Well, as much as I hate to do this, I have no use for a fretless bass currently. I had Hambone build me this bass with a custom Bonsai inlay. It is mahogany with a J-Retro in it, black hardware, and currently has Labella Deep Talkin' Bass strings on it. I will also throw in an extra pair of Labella Deep Talkin' bass strings, black nylon and brand new.

You can see the bass here:HCB #009 (http://home.mindspring.com/~adhamilton/id15.html)
There's also a lot more info there.

It comes with a Musician's Friend Durafoam Shock Resistant Bass Case. (http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Musicians-Friend-Durafoam-Shock-Resistant-Bass-Case?sku=540611)

I could go with $700 and perhaps plus a little bit for shipping depending on where you live...So, PM me if you want to make an offer.

And if you want to trade, I am looking for a 5 string fretted bass such as a G&L L-2500 or Lakland 55-01 or MTD (Kingston) 5 or Precision 5 or the like. However, send me an offer for your 5 string, and I'll let you know.

I just want to also say this bass is worth way more than $700. However, I'm not looking to make anyone else pay more than what I paid, and even though I paid more than $700, I got some value out of playing it.

If you have any questions, you can always contact me, of course, or Hambone. He has offered to answer technical questions. He is a great luthier and has said that he will support this instrument for as long as it exists against problems. I am working with him now on another bass and definitely am going to work with him in the future. Like I said, I just can't use a fretless right now and can't afford and don't have the space for extra basses (NYC bound...).

Please let me know any questions you have.

Thanks for looking!

Honestly, I want to see if a G&L, MTD, Precision, or Lakland pops up first. However, I will let you know if I decide to go with your TBC. Thanks!

Holy crap. I'm usually not into the whole boutique bass thing, but the body design along with everyone else is amazing. Love how the upper horn slopes. Free bump.

Not a problem. I noticed that you have a Chinese TBC. The TBC USA is a totally different bass, just FYI. It's like a combo between a Stingray or G&L L1500 (34" scale/single pickup) and a Lakland/MTD (19mm spacing at the bridge).

Let me know...I've always admired that Hambone Fairlane and would love to give it a go. Thanks!

Thanks for the info. You're definitely not "out." :) I actually got rid of my TBC. I know the USA is so different, but I'm just not sure I want to get another one yet. I'm definitely thinking...

I've had a lot of good offers, but I still haven't decided on one. I have been wanting a 2 pup MTD Kingston for a while, and I am still open to Lakland 55-01's, Precision 5's, G&L L2500's, Warwick 5's OR you can just try me with you have. :)

what an awesome bass...

As a proud owner of HCB Fairlane #005, I can definitly vouch for the quality of Hambone's basses. Like the OP said, the quality surpasses the price tag by a lot!!
plus hambone can answer just about any question you ask him--just try it :)

i would love to pick up this bass but i don't have anything to offer!

I don't see it being a problem as long as you cover at least most of the shipping. I would have to see how much it would cost, though. Can you PM me your address details so I can look into it? Thanks!

I just recorded a crappy file. It has low volume, because I just go from a soundboard to Ardour in Linux. It's not Pro Tools, that's for sure. Anyway, it will give you a pretty good idea. I tried to mess with some of the settings showing you the deep bass and the more relaxed tones as well. I also played some mwah slides and stuff. You'll notice there is one setting towards the end that has some buzz. This buzz does not exist when playing through an amp. Just through recordings. I'm not sure why, to be honest.

Anyway, PM me any questions. Thanks!

I see it is not lined but are there any fret markings on the side?

It looks like a georgeous instrument - is it original or is it based on other parts like the jazzwick.

Also, what are the electronics?

Thanks,

Fishhed

There are side dots. The dots are actually placed exactly where your fingers should be for each note. It makes playing it very easy and almost thoughtless.

Everything is original on this one. The pickups are Ken Armstrong MM's and it has a J-Retro.

Thanks!
