Hey! Question here... Had My Ibanez SR800 since over 15 years now... Was looking for other bass, but choose to 'Upgrade' my pickups instead. I just have my stock pickups replaced with SeyMore Duncan Basslines (P/J)...

Man... Very disapointed so far! It sounds like my E string is the only one cutting through band mix and when I play slap or higher melodic notes on the neck I'm loosing all sound definition!

I play throung Eden rig and never had real problem so far... now thinking having my stock pickups installed back. Any suggestions??? Entering studio in a few dayz.. getting worry here!

FWIW:

There's lot of SD PJ's combo's. As with all manufacturers, some of them didn't work for me. Different pups work different for different things depending on different variables involved.

Overall, it's always the same factors involved in a mix but as likely an EQ thing as not. Don't expect different pups to respond to the same eq'ing in the same way. Even if you don't, can take a while to figure it out and sometimes you need more control - like a 3 band parametric - to get a better fix or to alter the chain. Sometimes you just have to pass on the pups and move on.

It could be a combination of pickup height needing adjusting, EQ on the amp and the bass and the type of strings. The SD pickups are very good and I've never had the type of problem you describe. Good balance across the strings when set up properly. Which model Basslines did you get?
