Forgive my ignorance.
What does it mean to wire a pup "Parallel" and what is "Neck Dive"?
Thanks.

GaryM 04-30-2007, 11:22 AM Forgive my ignorance. What does it mean to wire a pup "Parallel" and what is "Neck Dive"? Thanks. I suppose wiring a pickup in parallel simply means wiring a double-coil pickup so that the coils are in parallel rather than in series. If you missed Physics at school that just means things are connected like this: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/09/Resistors_in_parallel.svg instead of like this: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/11/Resistors_in_series.svg Or you could wire multiple pickups in series or parallel... it's not something I've really explored. And I always took "neck dive" to mean the situation where the neck of the bass "dived" towards the ground while playing because the centre of gravity of the bass was too far towards the head. cervusflies 04-30-2007, 12:52 PM Neck dive, that makes sense to me now. Thanks for the illustrations, too. I'm scaring myself not knowing so much and diving into a build. I've got a pretty good mentor, although he's not specifically a bass man. |
