HI ray, like you <heheh> I'm a new guy here

straight to my question, I recently realize that my slapping and thumping does not sound as what a good slap and thump should sound, and I'm following every thing on the book,

my question is, do certain basses are made to sound awful when they are slapped or thumped, or -based on your experiences- all types of bass can be slapped and thumped, we just need to know how, which mean that I have to practice even harder :crying:

anyways could you by any chance provide one basic lesson on thumping and slapping with pictures and not videos, bandwidths in Indonesia, that's a place in Asia, is not that dependable sometimes, anyways great to have you here :D :D

Maybe if you could provide pictures first it would help a great deal with diagnosis. Pictures of your bass and your hands on it, if you cannot provide a soundclip or video of yourself. Sort of like how a doctor has to see you in person to diagnose you. Of course you would need the assistance of a friend with this. Best of luck.

Yeah pictures would help, but also remember that every bass is diffrent.

A diffrence in tone can come from many places eg Strings,Wood,Pickups,Hand Position,Angle of attack,Your Amp and much more. The age of your strings is a major factor.

Also keep in mind that it is very hard to get the same slap and pop sounds that you hear on a CD or Radio as these are "tricked up" in the studio.

Best of luck.

first, thanks for the nice responses and willingness to help you guys, :hyper:

and yes, I'd try to provide pictures on how I do them on my next online time heheh, but just to describe

my bass is the Epiphone Embassy V,

I read good reviews about it in bassplayer magazine, but there's something wrong with the thrust road that I can't seem to set the neck straighter, which lead to an amateur question, I mean on what height should the strings are at to give a good slapping sound?

my amp is a combo amp from Yamaha, I think it is made in Indonesia,

I use no pre amp, nor effect, I plan to get some looping device or chorus (btw can anyone explain to me the different between the two?) soon.

I hope some of you familiar with the rigs, and share some of the experiences, and I'll try to provide the pictures very soon

huge thank and respect guys
