Who do you think is better? I think that Dirnt is better but I also like Mark, he is one of my favorite bassist but Dirnt is in my favorite band Green Day http://www.talkbass.com/ubb/eek.gif

Easy call: Dirnt. He's much more adventurous, more musically talented, and just more fun to listen to. Hoppus has only one thing over him: he can sing. I don't really think either one is particularly great, but I do enjoy listening to them.

Listen to the Green Day records.. Dirnt can sing. Not lead, but he does great backup harmonies. I love his playing too.. simple, solid, and melodic.

Dirnt cuz his bass lines are more complicated than "2-2-2-2-0-0-0-0". And I dont like Blink 182 anyway.

I like Blink, but mark is not exactly what i would consider a great bassist. unless you consider pumping 8th notes great of course. Don't get me wrong, it fits the music, but its not great.

Mark would never call himself a good bassists. So you have to go with Mike. They're both fun though.

I was thinking the same thing...there really is not contest considering that Mark does not have much to show in the bass department. The most you can say is that he's a singer who plays bass.

I see in my crystal ball that this thread is not going to last too much........

i say you go to your local dealer and play with as many bass's, your intrested in then find the one you like and buy it.

I would argue that any bass line that fits the song is a great bass line even if it's just 8th notes. But that's just semantics, I agree with you. Green Day isn't my favorite band, but I've seen 'em live and they're damn good players, extremely tight. I genuinely enjoy Mike's bass lines.

Both suit their bands well.
