I've got a P bass project that I'm working on and I'm trying to decide which pickup to put in. Currently the top contenders are the Nord NP4 and the G&L MFD.
I have a feeling that I'll prefer the tone of the NP4, but alot of TBers have great praise for the MFD as well. One advantage that I really like about the MFD is that you can adjust the height of the pole pieces. I have model Js in my geddy, which also have adjustable poles and I find that design quite useful.
The drawback of the MFD is that I'd have to do a bit of work to properly install the MFD, but I'm not too worried about that as its only a $50 bass body. Naturally the NP4 is a straight drop-in.
So what do you say NP4 or MFD?
Is there another high quality P pup that has adjustable poles?
