Ibanez sr900. Irks me bart sold the license for this piece of shite. tried DR sunbeams, Low riders and stock. A-string will not volume balance. I've tried everything. Pickup height; the E string booms regardless, and I mean stoopid loud. Pups are some sort of a split coil type in a soapbar. Dead spot between the A and D. A-string is on the cusp and will not respond to any tweak. Lower the bass end and the frickin' E just gets boomier. Horrible product, steer clear.

Rant over. Which REAL Bart fits this guitar. Love the action, after all. Help a brother out.

It's funny. I seem to have the same problem almost. I have an MTD Kingston Heir Active 5 with a 5PCBJD3 in the neck position and a DLJJ in the bridge position. No matter how I adjust the pickups or change strings the A-string gets choked. I'm also getting moderate microphonics.

"P2" is just the basic size and shape of the pickup. They come in split coil, dual coil, and quad coil configurations.

It looks like they don't make them for four string basses, but you could use the ones that are intended for 6 string. Or you could use the 5 string dual coil version.

Here (http://bartolini.net/Catalog_July_2005.pdf) is the Bartolini catalog that shows the coil configurations for their various models.

For some reason, that PDF doesn't want to open up in a browser window for me - if you're having the same problem go here (http://bartolini.net/price_lists.htm) and right click on "Bartolini Catalog July 2005", choose "Save As" and you can download it and it'll work fine.

Let me know if you come up with a solution. My Ibanez is a 4-strg and I don't have an issue with microphonics, but this volume balance thing is making me nuts. I was sure it was only a dead string but no, even two string changes later the problem persists.

I'm going to start a new thread to address this issue specifically after I do a few more searches.

Also thanks to BruceWane for the links.
