Ok i Know this might sound like a bit of a daft question, but i have built my own bass from parts that I have bought. But ofcourse it doesn't really feel like ive built a bass because i havnt actually made the body myself.

I would love to make my own body but im only 16 and dont have any big saws for wood cutting. I believe I have a hack saw and a copin saw. Is there anything I could use that would be simple and easy to make a body out of?

(it does not have to be a good sounding bass this is just a mess around more than anything, any novelty ideas are welcome)

Are you asking for a material or stock? Or are you asking if you can use the tools you state in making a body out of a suitable wood?

Im asking about novelty ideas for a body that i can use with very limited tools. And i mean novelty ie. probs wont work. Such as a large hardback book

Well if you don't expect it to work in the end(hope I understood that correctly) and just want to experience cutting and shaping a body how about starting with styrofoam. Almost no tools needed and you can go wild with shapes. You could even fiberglass the body after it is shaped.

go out and by an 8/4 piece of mahogany big enough to fit your design, belt sand it (if you have one) otherwise hand sand it flat, sand down the curves and bam, you have a body, if u want to put in pickups and a control cavity expect to buy a router
