I have been experimenting with this for a while, but it just seems to miss something to make it interesting...

You'd probably be better off saying what you want help on instead of hoping people will download a file in format that isn't that common.

I haven't heard it so just take a shot in the dark. You can alway make a tune more interesting by changing the harmony. Add approach chords, chord subsitutions, setup chords with their V7 or a II-V7. If you really know your stuff with harmony and theory you can completely reharmonize the song.

Other thing work up a bass line that is a counter melody. Work on adding some chords to the bassline. So on strong points of the melody you play a chord instead of just a bass note. Play with the rhythm, or do it in another time signature. 3/4 Bossa Nova's are tricky to get used to, but once you get a handle on them they are cool.

Blue Bossa is a tune everyone plays at some point so lots of versions of it out there to listen to. Check out a few and cop some ideas. Brian Bromberg has a nice version all sorts of cool things in it. Check it out.
