SirCanealot 06-13-2007, 07:29 AM Pfft, I come from a background in computer geekary and fighting games on an arcade stick before bass playing. I have super UBER strong hands. JLW 06-16-2007, 09:43 AM Yes. moopants 06-16-2007, 03:25 PM It's definitely a bass thing. Aside from that, have you ever given a massage (back, etc.)? Girls always say I give the best, so I guess it from playing bass. Now, for massages in other places, it also works. :smug: Wh4len 06-16-2007, 03:48 PM It's definitely a bass thing. Perfect for backrups or other adventures using fingers Vandelay 06-16-2007, 03:57 PM Potential bumper sticker: Bass players do it with great feel and timing. We also like to slap on occasion. :p Wh4len 06-17-2007, 12:17 PM I would buy it Shroom 06-17-2007, 08:41 PM There's a pickup line I've heard a few times, I'm surprised it's not more well known. It goes some thing like: "You know, they say bassists got those magic fingers..." Alvaro Martín Gómez A. 06-17-2007, 08:53 PM Last week I had a gig (public diploma concert for a drummer) in which we played Scott Henderson's "Dolemite", Tower Of Power's "Oakland Stroke" tied with "What Is Hip?", Brecker Brothers' "Some Skunk Funk" and Rush's "YYZ". After the concert, an acquaintance told me that a girl who attended the show with him was very impressed with my performance and told him something like: "Can he really do all those things with his fingers?". Unfortunately, she had to leave just after we finished. :hmm: BellBottomBlues 06-18-2007, 10:55 AM I don't follow. Do you mean cooking? I'm quite the chef myself. ;) I think they mean that thumb thumpers have a green thumb at gardening which any lady can appreciate.;) BellBottomBlues 06-18-2007, 10:57 AM Oh yeah, btw, this doesn't work in reverse, as I know some chick bass players that don't know how to use their wrist. Yngwie 4String 06-18-2007, 11:02 AM I have really long fingers, and tend to have small girlfriends (I like asians). I can hold a groove. littledeucemike 06-22-2007, 03:04 PM Wow so It must be true. Cheers Pop eye freakonaleash 08-20-2007, 10:01 PM I reckon it's true, it must be a bassist thang, I have always been complimented for my touch. (I give truly amazing massages too, and have strong arms and hands). However I have never been with a male bassist to see if the same is true in reverse! Human Bass 08-20-2007, 10:09 PM I can reach her spot with my middle! j.a.e.r.i.p 08-20-2007, 10:15 PM my ex girlfriend was also quite the fan buliwyfff 08-24-2007, 05:52 PM it definently gets them going..."like you play bass!" : ) khaspir 08-29-2007, 11:33 PM You know, our hands are only part of the attraction. Ask any woman who has sat on a bass amp (or on furniture directly touching the amp) when you are playing at volume, and playing a high speed drone passage (lots of 16ths in tight clusters). My singer.... noticed .... that last rehearsal. She started looking at me in an entirely different light. However, I'm of the opinion that certain things just don't get done with bandmates, and anyhow, my wife certainly wouldn't approve. Jimmyplaysabass 08-29-2007, 11:41 PM ;) ;) i've gotten many a compliment on my finger technique.;) ;) SundanceChile 08-30-2007, 12:05 AM I've always been commented on for all my different "finger techniques". It's a bass player thing. :smug: ThunderSix66 08-30-2007, 12:18 AM working out works better for pleasing the women than playing bass does. but the fingers, yes the fingers Ramstien 08-30-2007, 09:40 AM Strangely, I've been told I have really soft hands. rreynoldsbass 08-30-2007, 05:48 PM Yes. Dear Christ, yes. I've never had problems with it. Liko 08-31-2007, 10:59 AM It's the two-finger plucking technique. Let's just say it has other uses  :D Bass Boy 08-31-2007, 12:38 PM I've experienced this as well. I wonder if pick ( I SAID PICK!) players get the same compliments! Yngwie 4String 09-01-2007, 11:42 PM I doubt it man, I think a pick might not feel very good for the lady. |
