i have a mini disc recorder i bought off a bootsale for 15 pounds!! works very well and has loads of mini discs with it. i intend to use this to record my own demos of songs that i write, but im not sure what microphone to use.

at college i did a media course and they used these quite sensitive microphones that were 'electrets' and can pick up sounds very easily and are very high quality. the only problem is the background noise it can make. and then theres 'dynamic' mics which are used a lot in bands for the singers and totally reduce noise but have a very low range limiting to a few inches from the head.

i plan to take a mini disc recorder and microphone and go sit in a quiet room. now i want to be able to record the best quality i can with the least noise as possible, while staying as low a budget on a mic as possible. what would be best for this?
