Welcome to the forum for Contrabass Conversations, the weekly podcast about the double bass! I am really excited that this is off and rolling, and I'd link to thank Paul for setting this up for the show. Having a forum for the show is something that will really add a lot to the user experience, and TalkBass is the ideal venue to host such a forum.

I'd love to hear ideas on new guests, thoughts on previous shows, questions for guests on the podcasts, any bass news that folks would like mentioned on the podcast, and any tracks or ideas for musical selections for the podcast. I really like to include bass playing for listeners as well as interview guests, so please let me know if anyone has some tracks that they'd like played on the show.

I will be posting the older show notes for previous episodes here to get the ball rolling, and please let me know what you think of previous as well as current episodes.

Congrats to Jason and to Paul, too. This seems like a complete win-win situation.

Thanks, Marcus and Sam! Let me know if you've got any ideas for show guests or music to play.

Well, since you ask, it would seem that the Chicago-based bassist / composer / visual artist / academic / activist Tatsu Aoki would make an interesting subject.

As would Chicago-based bassist and noted jazz producer Steve Rodby.

Thanks, Sam. Great ideas for guests--I just bookmarked their websites, and I'll send them e-mails about being guests on the show. I appreciate the input.

I personally think that Joe Guastefeste would make a great interview. He's been CSO principal bass since the 61' season and played under notables like Fritz Rainer and Solti to name a few greats.

I've been thinking of asking Joe to do an interview--good idea. I'll see if he'd be up for it. Two of his CSO colleagues have done one, so hopefully he'd be interested.
