VIEW FULL LIVE VERSION : GAS!!!!!
AdlerAugen 06-18-2007, 11:17 PM No! I have acquired a severe case of recording GAS!
but I don't have room in my room or money for all of it!
Studio monitors...a midi controller...GPO (garritan personal orchestra, VST instruments)...a second flatscreen to replace the big honking monitor which clogs part of one of my two desks...and I only have like $400! that's barely enough for a reallly cheap midi controller and the GPO (like the midi controller has to be under 200 bucks)
geoffkhan 06-19-2007, 12:25 AM I'd wait on GPO until the next version comes out, which judging by the quality of Garritan's Stradivari violin and Gofriller cello, will be quite impressive.
AdlerAugen 06-19-2007, 01:16 AM any idea when it'll come out, and if it'll be 200 bucks or less?
EricF 06-19-2007, 01:07 PM GAS is definitely an issue here, too. I'm a noob to home recording, and having fun with it. My setup now consists of Cubase LE, a Lexicon USB interface, a pair of Sony headphones, and a PC on a small desk crammed into the corner of our junk/storage/music room. Now that my bass/amp/effects GAS is finally quieting down, my recording gear GAS list is increasing daily. My first 2 items on the list are a 19" computer monitor and a pair of cheap/decent audio monitors.

Nothin' outa you, mister! The pics in your home studio thread cause me much envy...and GAS! ;)
neptoon 06-19-2007, 01:50 PM hey, man, it took a couple of years for all of that to come together, and in the end, all of a sudden, completely out of necessity... :D i'm just glad it's over with...
check here for a cool deal on monitors...

EricF 06-19-2007, 03:59 PM Those Eden's are awfully tempting. Damn you, neptoon! :D
neptoon 06-19-2007, 05:06 PM damn me? you can't beat the price! :D
EricF 06-19-2007, 06:02 PM damn me? you can't beat the price! :D
I say it with love in my heart, man. Damn you for tempting me with such a sweet deal. :D I was holding off a bit becuase I was looking at a pair of KRK Rockit 5's for $300, and that's more than I wanted to just jump into right now (I'm still recovering from my last big GAS attack). The Edens are right in that range of being TOO easy to jump on. No hard feelings...just GAS pains :help: :)
neptoon 06-19-2007, 07:07 PM i gotcha, man...i got the m-audio bx5a's for about 180.00...stupid memorial day guitar center sale :D
AdlerAugen 06-19-2007, 08:19 PM ...my GAS increases...bloating ensues...*sob*
neptoon 06-22-2007, 09:51 AM you doin' ok, bro?
Funky 1 06-22-2007, 03:10 PM You don't give a lot to go on and I am assuming that you have some thing to record with like Cubase LE , so speaking generally, your best bet is to invest whatever money you have in either A) microphones and/or B) speakers. Your music will sound only as good as your source and your ability to monitor what you record. Speakers should be as neutral before equalization as you can afford. Don't get anything that's too bassy.
AdlerAugen 06-22-2007, 03:28 PM I used to use cubase LE until I got my new comp, now i'm learning n-track studio. I'm picking it up fast.
And I'm quenching some of my gas buying for $50 a midi controller...used of course but I thought I wouldn't find one without $200.
Now I have the money to buy the garritan personal orchestra too!!!
EdIt: I have great mic's. I have an AKG C3000 and an AKG C1000. Paid 400 bucks for the pair, with shockmount, and a pair of preamps, the presonus tubepre and the studioprojects vtb1 V series.
AdlerAugen 06-22-2007, 07:02 PM NOOO!!!!! MY keyboard doesn't work with MIDI, though it should!!!!!
and four keys don't play....(probably due to my trunk leaking when I went through the carwash with that in the trunk)
well there goes another $100 for repair...
