It lists his equipment here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lemmy#Equipment) Yngwie 4String 06-19-2007, 11:53 AM Yeah I know, but I dont have that kind of cash, can I get close to that tone on my Ibi? TribalEagle 06-19-2007, 11:59 AM He uses: Rickenbacker 4004LK (favor neck pickup and turn tone full) --> Marshall JMP Superbass II (cut bass allmost of, cut highs slightly and boost mids. Precence and volume up to 3`a clock) --> Marshall 4x12 and Marshall 4x15 (custom) I think you can get close with some Rick and Marshall guitar stack.. I gues it won`t sound really good if you play something else than just Motörhead...:hmm: Some one here at TB must have tried to copy him, so he can tell you more... edit. ah I was too slow.. I think you can get some what Lemmy like sound with overdrive/distortion pedal, mid boost eq and use pick... (I get it pretty close with my jazz bass..) PhR 06-19-2007, 01:40 PM Could you tell he was playing a Thunderbird in this clip by only listening?;) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZaFcx09BII4 T-Bird suits Lemmy perfectly too. I think I read something about Lemmy liking the 'Bird but complaining that the neck felt too long for him. PrimusNut 06-19-2007, 03:22 PM I can get quite close with my Metal Muff. Rusty Chainsaw 06-19-2007, 03:37 PM You'll get pretty damn close with more or less any bass (using the neck pickup) and a Marshall Guv'nor distortion box... that's what the guy from a local Motorhead cover band used to use and he copped the sound pretty much perfectly. Other than that, a pick, lots of chording, a bottle of Jack and a few facial warts wouldn't go amiss. :D The Lurker 06-20-2007, 08:49 AM Could you tell he was playing a Thunderbird in this clip by only listening?;) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZaFcx09BII4 T-Bird suits Lemmy perfectly too. I think I read something about Lemmy liking the 'Bird but complaining that the neck felt too long for him. Actually, some of his older ricks had Tbird pickups in them. The Guv'nor and a pick should get anyone decently close-- it's instant Lemmy/Rob Wright in a box. Just add signal, do not add water. All mids, no bass or treble. PS I wrote most of that wiki bit, using info I got from his interview with BP in 2004. The bits that sound daft are someone else's. Yngwie 4String 06-20-2007, 11:15 AM Cool how much for one of those? The Lurker 06-20-2007, 05:24 PM Cool how much for one of those? $50-60 for the new version, the original ones can range from $80-$200 that I've seen. SirCanealot 06-20-2007, 07:22 PM I've never had a problem getting tones like this when screwing around with Ace of Spades. Just neck pickup, boost mids, use pick, add distortion. Easy :) Amaru 06-20-2007, 08:06 PM Apparently Lemmy turns all bass and treble down, has mid full on, and volume on his amps at three o'clock. I forgot the interview link, but I tried it, and as long as you add distortion and a pick, it gets pretty damn close, no matter what bass you're playing (unless it's a P with flats :p ). |
