Bass is SOLD!!!!!!!


I have to get some sleep so this will be a short intial post that I will edit tomorrow. Mid-90's (97ish as I recall) Modulus Quantum 5 with the quilt top option. Bass retails for $4500+ new and street is $3150ish - $3500ish (depending on where you buy it).

She's an awesome player and looks great also. So here is the fine print and the reason for the LOW price. She has been played (this is not a closet queen) and has some nicks here and there. The worst place is where one of the knobs came off the bass while in the case and got under the cavity cover and chewed it up a bit, but it's fully functional. The pot on which the knob came off is a split shaft and one of the side of the split came off, so the pot should prob be replaced also ($10 part and a 5 min swap), although it's still functional.

Comes with a brand new hardshell case that fits it well. Action is very low, buzz free and tone is awesome. THe neck on this baby is just plain wonderful. Balance is great with virtually 0 neck dive. Priced for extremely quick sale at $1199 FIRM!!!! :eek: I believe this to be the (by far) lowest price I've even seen here on TB for a Q5 (and this has the quilt top option which is typcially more $)....

Have to be a DAMN good trade. I'm selling this bass for less than it's worth so the trade would have to be worth at least this much (or + cash to make up the difference)...

Thank you sir. I'm quite surprised it's not gone with being priced several hundred $ less than any other Quantum 5 has sold for here on TB. Oh well.... She'll be on Evil Bay this eve with a $1299 Buy It Now for a quick sale there unless somebody gets to me before this eve...

Well most of them just have the plain graphite is why I ask. I own a chechen-equipped one and my custom one is the same.
The second one I got is a 1997 also.
So if there's wood, it's gonna be chechen more than likely.

Yep. The chechen was an option. You don't see a ton of them, but now that I have one it's my fave tone for the Q's. More low-mid punch as opposed to the sharp attack of the graphite.

I'm lookin' at a fretless too right but now, but if that falls through... ;)

As an owner of this year and this model, if you've EVER wanted to try out a Q, this is the one to get. My neck is 110% straight, zero issues, and the chechen fingerboard top is a nice transition if the full on graphite scares you.

Someone needs to grab this.

i adore my graphite Q6, and btw its also a 97 and the neck is perfect.

I haven't recorded w/ my chechen one yet, but I can tell you is that it's got a good bit more growl in it, especially if you use IEMs you can hear the difference. It still has the solid fundamentals like in the phenolics, but it's more mellow and even, if that makes sense. More like a traditional-sounding bass, but still with the punch and evenness of the graphite. No deadspots here either.

It really is a different animal altogether. I wouldn't of thought so until I owned both, and now I prefer about 70/30 my chechen over phenolic.

I didn't even know this one was as killer as it is. Looking at Modulus's site ( http://www.modulusguitars.com/v2/products/quantum/index.html ), it appears that this one has several options.

Quilt top - $200 and up (whatever "and up" means)
Bart 3 band pre-amp & Bart pickups - $125 (bass normally comes standard w EMG)
Chechen Fingerboard - $100 (will validate this eve when I get home)

Even with the "new news" of this bass having the above options, I'll still stick true to my original asking price. Seems even more of a hell of a deal now more than ever. I'm still posting her to Ebay this eve if nobody commits. She'll go fast there....
