Not too bad of a price, if anyone is looking for a nice 4 string Lakland 44-02.

Wow great color and a super price to boot... shipping is quite high though for my taste. :spit:

I realize that $40 is higher than the normal $25 - $30, but the bass is only $599. Even at $639, that's still a great price, 1/2 of a new one.

The only thing that would give me concern, is a the fact that it seems to be CAR.

Has Lakland ever offered a CAR 44-02, cause I know they don't now?

It's not CAR. It's more like a translucent wine or red color.
And it's not trying to cover something up.
They disclose a scratch by the bolts on the back.

My buddy snatched it up and I'm sure he'll be happy with it. Looks like a nice bass!

Lorenzini;

I wasn't implying there was anything wrong with the bass...

If I were your friend, though, I'd email Dan Lakin and see if it was part of a special run, just to satisfy my own curiosity, cause that is definitely not a standard color for a Skyline.

Hope he really enjoys it.

It's a beautiful bass, and I love 44-0*s

Thanks for the info.

As pretty as Transparent Burgundy is, you'd think there would be more of them around.

Definitely candy apple red. Nothing translucent about it. It's a solid color. :)

Not sure of the years but earlier in history Lakland did offer the 44-02 in CAR. Discontinued because it wasn't peeling off the shelves as they'd hoped, so they made room for other colors. This happened with all but the Duck Dunn models I believe. Still offered as a custom option though.
