Which bassists have the most imitated tones? IMO, Marcus Miller is high on that list. I would guess Flea is there too. Who else?

+1 I agree Anthony, Marcus' tone is probably the most sought after tone in bass next to Jaco's. Let's face it, his tone is always musical and always perfect for the song, what more could one ask for. On a related note, I think if a bassist wants to get a lot of work he or she should try to emulate Nathan East's tone, a little bit of his feel wouldn't hurt either IMHO.....:D

Truer words have never been spoken. Nathan East does seem to get every plum gig in the West.

Billy Sheehan. The fun part is trying to get that tone without stereo outputs.

bwahahaha!

I'll add Entwistle to that list (if he's not on already...). Maybe not on lots of recordings, but I bet there isn't a bassist alive that hasn't tried to sound like him at one point.

Lee Sklar too. That's the bass you hear on every recording ever, anyway.

And then realising it's probably not going to happen! :hmm:

Hang out in the Effects forum for a week and you'll clearly realise the most copied tone is that of Timmy C
