I threw a set of rotos on my Brio last night. I am a longtime roto fan but not sure this was the right move. They seem stiffer to me and I'm not sure if it is the instrument, me, the strings or a combo of all three. They sound okay so far and will reserve judgement after testing them in combat.

My next experiment will be a set of LaBella deep talkin flats. Unless someone wants to talk me out of it? Lee what was it you put on this axe when I got it? D'addario something, somethings I think...

Well, Joel, for starters, you THREW a set of rotos on your Brio? Lob them maybe, but throwing, it just seems sooo violent.

Well, the D'Addarios are XLs. Or were. You've probably got them out in the garden holding up the tomatoes or something.

Rotos are fine strings, but I think your heart might be smitten by the LaBellas. That's my hunch, and I'm not taking it back. One word of caution: Wear two pairs of socks when you play at volume. Otherwise you risk damage to your metatarsals.

Kindly,

Lee

Nope, too valuable to use in the garden. kept 'em as spares.
Miss the flexibility in those strings though. Will keep thoses in mind. So you have a history with the Labellas? Love the idea of possibly needing protective gear. Are they a steel string or nickel? Do they last a longtime? Are they hard to find? Do you find the term "jumbo shrimp" an oxymoron? :hiding:

The LaBella Deep Talkin Flats are Stainless.
We use the black tapewould LaBellas exclusively on the Fretless B1s. I have not heard another brand that even comes close to the sound they produce.

Speaking of shrimp, a diminutive psychic escaped from detention here. We had a situation: small medium at large.

Kindly,

Lee

Oh my. If this keeps up they will have to make another forum. Not sure what they would call it though...
