VIEW FULL LIVE VERSION : Joss Stone's bassist live...
Psychicpet 07-01-2007, 12:30 PM just watchin' the Princess Diana concert right now and Joss Stone's bassist with his Jazz and flats are kickin butt! Has got to be the deepest/clearest "live" bass tone I've heard come through my little TV speakers.... nuts!
:bassist:
alembicguy 07-01-2007, 12:46 PM I too was impressed with his tone!:hyper:
mattsk42 07-01-2007, 12:57 PM Thanks for the head's up. I'm going to check it out!
Sounbwoy 07-01-2007, 01:05 PM It's a pretty decent mix in general. I can hear pretty much everything and my TV as well does not have very good speakers.
Yes, I'm watching the end of that Lady Diana concert and most of the mixes are pretty damn good. Tom Jones even mentioned that the sound on stage was particularly good. Hats off to all the sound people!
I suppose if you've got an anticipated audience of 500 million, you make sure you got your best guys behind the board.
alembicguy 07-01-2007, 05:37 PM Does anyone know if there is a repeat of this cocert?
I think I saw where you could stream hunks of it on vh1.com, and since MTv owns VH1, you can bet you'll be tired of it before they stop playing it on tv.

I agree, I also like the bass with the white pearloid pick guard. It looks like a he has a badass ll bridge. great tone
TheDarkReaver 07-01-2007, 08:40 PM oh god they played that over there too.
bah diana bah
was fearne cotten still presenting it for the us as well? god she's attractive.
Dr. Cheese 07-01-2007, 09:07 PM I just saw the NBC version, and I really liked how John Taylor's Cirrus sounded and the bassist for Elton John had a SR5 really clear in the mix. Rod Stewart's bassist had a JO5, but the bass wasn't very prominent on that song. Like t others said, the mix was outstanding! As is often the case, I was struck by the scarcity of boutique basses on such a big stage. It is just further evidence that a pretty standard instrument can work just fine under about any circumstances.:)
jerry 07-02-2007, 03:20 AM Joss's bassist was her longtime touring bassist Peter Iannacone, I always dig his groove. Anybody know who the cat who played the G&L in the house band behind Tome Jones, Bryan Ferry, etc was?

Then why can't they get good sound at the Super Bowl halftime shows? Every year, something goes wrong.
bassist15 07-02-2007, 11:53 AM Any idea who Ms. Stone's bassist is? IVe seen him a few times on tv performing with her and his sound is always top notch . Very solid bass parts.

To be fair, the Super Bowl systems have to be set up and torn down within minutes.

adrian garcia 07-02-2007, 04:26 PM I knew him as Pete Sebastian. GREAT player. We used to share gigs in So Fla back in the day. Great to see him doing so well.
Kalyptic 07-04-2007, 06:19 AM I saw Joss Stone Live At The Byron Bay Blues Fest, (also saw the flecktones) And this guy was quite awesome. He putt on one of the best solos I've seen, They Had a 19 minute encore lol. But i have to Say Wooten Had a Better Solo at Bluesfest. And so did the guy From Bluezone.
adrian garcia 07-04-2007, 08:20 AM and to think he almost became a pro golfer.
I remember he was quite the Mark King aficionado back then. He has chops for sure.

Adrian, is he the same Pete Sabastian that is on the Gospel tribute album for Jaco?
Baird6869 07-04-2007, 09:30 PM Is he the guy on Joss Stone's recording of Some Kinda Wonderful?
I don't like the recorded version that much and I prefer playing the song in D (I think they do it in C), but the bass riff is really cool. I do something similar in my band's version of it (sorry I can't just play D and G for 5 minutes!):hyper:

That's Jack Daley on the studio recording.
b15fliptop 07-05-2007, 08:59 PM What was up with Trevor's bass? It had what looked like a smaller G&L headstock, and was a 3&1 tuner layout. I'd like to know the story behind that bass.
