I was listening to some old Blood, Sweat & Tears last night, specifically the first with Al Kooper, and BS&T III. Man, Jim Fielder was one incredible bass player!! What chops, right in the pocket. Does anyone know what he's up to these days, is he still playing?

He's still active, last I heard of, he's been playing with Neil Sedaka.
I agree, great playing on those old BS&T albums, grooves like a madman and was so melodic at the same time! Have to admit I LOVED how they recorded bass on some albums back then, the bass really jumped out at you.

Jim was my first big influence on bass and now we are dear friends. He comes to Vegas a few times a year with Neil Sedaka. We have a Thai lunch ritual thing going...
A wonderful human being to whom I owe a lot. His bass playing was years ahead of it's time. STILL sounds great!

Yeh, Jim Fielder is one great bass player. I listen to his BST work frequently and even bought the full score of their greatest hits. It's amazing to see just what he does beyond the written notes. He is so darned musical! I, too, have learned a lot from him. Would love to meet him someday. O well, I can dream a bit, eh?
