I was just wondering (as I have acces to a couple of cnc machines)... Has anyone made a bass on CNC, I mean here in the forum? I'd really like to locate some plans and start a couple of experiments. Of course, i could just take a bass and measure it and write the stuff myself, but I would be limited to the stuff I have in hand (4003, jazz, p bass) but I thought maybe someone had already done, say a RIC 4005, or tele bass, or a nice starfire II.

Thanks!

i use a 3D CAD program to supply machinists.

works great.

plus i can render out the 3D CAD data.

samples available upon requests - i've posted a ton of stuff here already for ref.

I do sheet metal CNC programming for a living. What you really need is a 3d model from cad. What ever shop you goto will probablyu have their own CNC software that will import your model and tool it up for thier particular machine.

Quite the contrary. Any chance you could email me a generic model so I can use it as a base for my designs? I'm still learning Deltacad.

I wouldn't even know what to do with those. I'll PM you my email though. I'll be able to use it eventually.

Was about to post a reply here but I didn't want to hijack your thread. Here's what I spared you. ;)

By the way, fhodshon is THE MAN! I was partly inspired to go as far with the modeling on my project as I did because of the great work I've seen posted by you F.

I can see Ric, F, Jazz and Rob Allen.

What's the white topped bass?

good calls.

the white-ish topped bass is a JP (French).

woefully, JP is no longer building.

Wow, guys. This is interesting stuff. I have a tonne of nooby questions about this whole CNC thing.

fhodson, do you mind if I PM you to ask about a few things? I'm thinking I might want to carve / get a Jazz-bass body carved for a possible project instead of going the Warmoth route.

Well, I was thinking of going totally the Warmoth route, but what I've seen here and in a CNC build thread makes me kinda excited about maybe going that route istead...
