I'd be inclined to say that he's got his serial numbers mixed up, but it's possible that it's one of the first Fenders made in Asia. Even then, I thought they were only made in Japan at the time...

It might be a lemon or it might be a hidden gem, but I decided to pass on it. Here's a quoted reply from him:

if you try to look it up from fender it says Korean-made dating unclear.
