Ok, so I'm loving the look of the Corvette Hot Rod (5 string) on the Perfect bass website. Not too many people can say they've actually played one.

So I know I like the feel of the $$ BO, and definitely love the sound on $$ NT. Also, I am considering a Streamer $$. So how would you compare the Hot Rod, the $$ Corvette NT, Streamer $$, and $$ BO?? I'm ready to get another bass before the end of the month.

Peace!

Hi NewGuy,

I hear you are on a quest for a new Warwick! I will do my best to make sure you get exactly what you need.

I encourage you to give me a call if you have a little time. (886)-751-3220

Here we go! Basses in question: Corvette Hot Rod 2005 LTD, Corvette $$, Corvette $$ NT, Streamer $$.

I have played all of these instruments but have only had “personal time” with the LTD ’05 and the Streamer $$. I have sold several Vette $$ and I must say they are one of Warwick’s best sellers for a reason. They maintain the unmistakable Warwick growl but capture it in a diferent way using ash for the body. This shifts the growl from a very low point with bubinga (used in the standard) to the low mid area. The use of the MM pick-ups with the ash gives the bass great full punch and like most Warwick’s with a wenge board the top end has tons of snap. I have only played the Vette $$ NT a handful of times and it was exactly what I though it would be, classic NT Warwick feel in a less expensive package. It was not as edgy as the BO w/ash, but instead it was deep with tons of sustain. The Streamer $$ is probably my personal favorite in this group as far as feel. I own a Streamer bodied Warwick so I could be slightly biased. Another thing that I like about the feel is the finish on the back of the maple neck, really quick and smooth. The tone of the Streamer $$ is similar to that of the Corvette $$ but with a little extra zing in the top end. It has a maple neck verses the wenge on the Vette, which lends to the tone and the lighter weight. I can say there is one thing in common about all the $$ basses that I played, they are all difficult to slap on. It can be done but it takes a little getting used to. And last but certainly not least we come to the Corvette Hot Rod ’05. This is a super cool twist from Warwick and a bass like nothing else in their line. The Hot Rods are first off super light so if you are a 4 hour gig kind of guy you will enjoy that. Next the use of only Maple and Ash provide a super crispy punch that is a pleasure to play a variety of styles on. This bass does it all IMO, it can handle a rock gig on Saturday night and then make it in to contemporary worship or gospel service on Sunday morning.

If you have any questions email me or if you would to discuss these instrument further give me a call.

Peace

Hello Newguy,

I'm the happy owner of a Warwick corvette Hotrod LTD 2005 5 strings and can only confirm all Brandt says about it.

First it is light, surprisingly light.

The second thing that struck me is its umplugged sound. It must be the effect of the tone chamberbut this bass realy have some sound when not plugged compared to other bass.

Then the appearance, a true work of art in my opinion. Every laminations have ekanga accents that makes it realy unic with for instance the line all around the body.

And most important, the sound. Like Brandt said it, it is very versatyle (but not as much as my jazzman). The tone in my opinion is less compressed than other WW especialy in the highss which are cristal clear and very open. I also found it has more growl (low mids) than my Streamer jazzman and it is deeper too.

If you like slapping, it is a slap machine.

If you need more details, don't hesitate to ask.

Cheers

Thanks ShiveringBass. Your response was helpful. I just got off the phone with Lawrence @ The Perfect Bass. I tell you, those TPB guys are awesome! Lawrence talked to me for 40 mins. about the differences between the Warwicks I was asking about.

I will be getting a new bass within the next few weeks...not sure which one but I'm guessing its going to be the Corvette NT $$ or possibly a MTD 535!!!

I tell ya, you go in the store to buy a couch and a good salesman sells you the entire house LOL!!!
