Another one done, another getting there. Been a busy summer. Now I wish the humidity would drop off again. Sonic blue completes my P w/Jazz neck set(fretted and fretless), and the FenderBird has a good surface but, I have to wait to lay the Surf green on it and it's killing me after seeing how well the headstock colored(waiting for clear). There is currently a discussion on wether I should put a pickguard on the Bird. I think not, but "the others" think so(emphatically). The pickguard on the reverses was off where it didn't guard anything, so I figure, why bother? Why cover up that sweet color? Also, once I put holes in it it's like a tattoo(hard to remove if I don't like it). What say y'all? Guard or no guard? I LOVE ReRanch colors. Cheap at twice the price! I'll post the finished Bird as soon as It's all in one piece(if we ever dry out!).

this one looks like its screaming for a guard, nice basses! i wanna build a bird now, or an explorer bass...

no guard necessary, just get it playing. you could always add one later.

I like the look of a guard on T-Bird, you could even get your own logo laser etched on there, do a search, someone else did one and it looked awesome.

Yeah, I thought a guard could be added later, too. My own logo! Now that's a helluvan idea! Thanks much!

A small update. I polished out and plan to have it assembled maybe next week? I couldn't wait to see it at least nearly done(and of course brag about it). I'm as surprised as anyone that it turned out this well(if you know of my brutality with fine skills). Spray bombs and elbow grease,and, a little help from me friends!

Done Friday and gigged last night! Other than being a "neck-dive extraordinaire" it's a pleasure to play. Set-up was a breeze. The sound is hard to describe, it's almost like a big, refined cross of a P and a Rick. Excellent sustain all over the neck. Really stands out on the mix running full-out. I'm happy as hades with the way it turned out. The clear is STILL a tad soft so I tried to be careful(though I got to put the first small ding in it on the end of the bar). Not a "full christening" without the beer spilled on it, though.

Moving that strap button might help with the insane neckdive.
