Could anyone here give me some advice on how to remove small scratches (more like wear marks) from a Poly finish?

Micromesh comes in a big kit (about $45) and a small kit (about $15) ...you want the small. If you can't find it elsewhere locally, stewmac carries both. A bit too pricey for the amount of work I need to do though ($30 for a few hairline scratches). I checked out stewmac and found some "touchup sticks" Have any of you used these. They look like Emery boards with three grits: 2400, 4000, and 12000. Is that too limited to take out scratches? They also have a set of small 2x2" pads with 7 different grades. I think I might just go with the pad set. Whatever you do make sure you use the whole set and don't skip grits. AN0INTD 09-09-2007, 07:26 PM Sir, Yes Sir! SDB Guitars 09-09-2007, 11:42 PM You might also try either GS27 or Meguiar's "Scratch-X" to buff out the scratches... just a thought. Either can be had at an auto parts store AN0INTD 09-10-2007, 12:33 PM Thanks SDB NOTE for anyone who finds this in a search: I tried Scratch-X, although it did improve the scratches a bit, it was not all that effectual. Micro-mesh seems to be the best solution. :/ |
