I've purchased a Schaller bass bridge for a project, based on the bridges ability to adjust string width. This looks like a nice piece, but it's quite unlike any guitar or bass bridge I've used. The bolts through the rear flange are used to lock the string spacing (I think) and there appears to be an inset allen head on the rear part of the saddle that allows the front saddle half with the string roller to slide forward and back to set intonation. Have I missed something or is this actually how it works? It seems to me that fine adjustment of intonation would be hit and miss if you have to loosen things off and nudge the front half of the saddle by trial and error. Or, is the bolt through the back of the bridge part of the intonation process? If it helps to know, the supplier (Internet Music Supply bills it as #BB-3530-003, it came in an Allparts blister pack with no labelling, and the closest thing I can see on Schaller's web site is called a Bass Bridge 2000. I'd appreciate your insight into this....
