I came up with a fairly inspired solution to support my bass neck while working on the rest of it, and I had to share.

Grab one of those plastic bags you get at the grocery store, fill it with packing peanuts, tie the top closed with the handles.
Viola you have a great neck cradle that protects the neck and fretboard while doing other things.

Like a miniature beanbag. :)

hmmmm.... I need a cradle for a job, but don't have any "peanuts", I do have a bagload of shavings & sawdust. I wonder...

why not just make one that'll last for years with scrap wood and 1/8" cork from walmart?

I made this in about 20 mins at the belt sander and waiting 5 for the contact cement to dry:

I was using a rolled up pair of old jeans before I decided to build my rocker ;)

The bath towels are still in use to protect the finish when sanding between coats and for final polishing.

Actually I think the plastic bag and foam peanuts will last forever, I think they have a half-life like Plutonium. :)
