VIEW FULL LIVE VERSION : Geezer Butler
Captain Chaos 09-16-2007, 11:14 PM Hey! I just got from the Heaven and Hell show...what can I say about this guy's playing, it was solid and he was perfect, his tone cut trough. I think he played a bunch of Lakland basses, one of them was in a PJ config, he also played a Jazz with a flying demon sticker on the pickguard and a bass with Darkstars. I also got a pick from Tony Iommi.

coolrunner989 09-16-2007, 11:26 PM awesome!
What rig did he run this through?
Geezer is one of the top bassists IMO. He definately can hold it down and also knows how to solo and stuff. Black sabbath wouldnt be the same without him.
duff84 09-16-2007, 11:28 PM gezzer butler is imo probably the best heavy metal/rock bass players that ever existed. like said, sabbath would not be sabbath without his blazing penatonic riff's and solos.

I think I saw Ampeg cabinets. The only bassist I have on my "want to see live" list is Steve Harris. I was so close to the stage, it was great, for some reason I wanted to jump and sneak in there.:hiding:
PrimusNut 09-18-2007, 12:57 AM I'd kill to see Sabbath live. Geezer is in my top 5 favs. Amazing.

Didn't he used to use Laney amps?
Captain Chaos 09-18-2007, 11:49 AM I think I saw Laney amps by Iommi's side. They were a bit far back so I could barely see them.
coolrunner989 09-18-2007, 11:57 AM yeah, Iommi = laney
always has and always will.
thanks for the info man, I'm glad the concert was great
Lesfunk 09-18-2007, 12:01 PM Geezer is the Shizzznit!
BuffaloBass 09-19-2007, 10:02 AM Taught me a ton when I was a young 10 yr old kid spinin' Sabbath and coppin' his lines. Glad to see he still's GOT IT!
mournblade 09-19-2007, 10:05 AM Geezer and Steve Harris are the biggest influences on my playing. Seeing Geezer live, twice now!, has been awesome. He makes it looks effortless.

LOL, Sabbath and Maiden were my two favorite bands back in 1986, when it just so happens I also started a band named Mournblade! :-) You must be an Elric of Melnibone fan, are you?
mournblade 09-19-2007, 10:14 AM Absolutely! MIchael Moorcock is probably my favorite author. Corum, Elric, Erekose, love his concept of the eternal champion, and how his "hero's" were far from perfect.
JC Dillon 09-19-2007, 11:10 AM I was at that show Sunday night. Geezer is a metal bass player like no other. His tone was killer, his technique was flawless. I was amazed at his right hand speed.:bassist: Crazy! I couldn't tell, but I beleive he was using a few different Laklands. I can now scratch him off of my "must see bassists before I die" list too. Of course I've been fortunate enough to see Maiden 4 times, once in a club in Orlando about 10-12 years ago, and I was thisclose to Steve. Geddy is the next one I have to see.
The Megadeath show that Caption Chaos mentions should be cool. I'll be there too. I've seen Lomenzo with BLS. He's good, but he's no Dave Ellfson.
After that, on to see AIC and Velvet Revolver. I can't wait for that one!
Rock On!

Too funny! A bass player thing, or just a metal thing? :eyebrow:
