I'm optimistic about the frequency analyzer. The muffin and zipper, however, are tube pedals, so they can't shrink down that small. You need room for the tubes, and also room to let the heat dissipate. I really, really hope EHX doesn't try to make nano versions of those pedals that use SS emulation of the tube circuitry. I don't think they would, but I just want to go on record saying that it would probably suck. MysticBoo 09-27-2007, 03:21 PM just wait for mysticboo to turn up, he might know! You act like I'm some sort of EHX insider! :p The Frequency Analyzer, possibly; it'd be easy to do. The tube pedals, most likely not; Speak_Onion hit the nail on the head for that one. And if they did, it would likely be digital, not analog SS. But I'm doubting they'll even consider the conversion anyway; it's easier to keep the tube pedals as-is. MysticBoo 09-27-2007, 03:27 PM On second thought, the Holy Stain might change everything. You never know... :ninja: sonicvi 09-27-2007, 03:59 PM Holy Stains are on ebay now btw, in case you hadn't seen. MysticBoo 09-27-2007, 04:07 PM Holy Stains are on ebay now btw, in case you hadn't seen. Where's your big flashy announcement thread? :p ...and they're only $98.18?!? Hmm... I'm tempted. sonicvi 09-27-2007, 04:20 PM meh, I didn't feel like it. markjazzbassist 09-27-2007, 04:21 PM Where's your big flashy announcement thread? :p ...and they're only $98.18?!? Hmm... I'm tempted. why? i don't even get why people would want that thing? it changes a strat to a Lp and a LP to a Tele. Big deal man? what's it going to do on bass turn a Jazz into a stingray and a stingray into a ken smith? im sorry if that sounds mean, but that pedal makes no sense to me. also i've had to much cake, the sugar is getting to me.:hmm: MysticBoo 09-27-2007, 04:28 PM why? i don't even get why people would want that thing? it changes a strat to a Lp and a LP to a Tele. Big deal man? what's it going to do on bass turn a Jazz into a stingray and a stingray into a ken smith? Umm... that's the wrong pedal. You're thinking of the Knockout. :p The Holy Stain has analog overdrive, analog fuzz, digital pitch shifting, digital tremolo, and two different kinds of digital reverb. You can combine distortion with one of the modulation effects, or just use those modulation effects clean. It also has an expression pedal input... I'm not sure what it controls. It's a really bizarre pedal, and I'd love to try it. Getting to the Knockout... I think the advertising gimmick is stupid. It's really like a weird "equalizer" for shaping the low and high end, which I think could be pretty cool in some situations. I'm not sure why they advertise it as a Strat-to-Tele and Gibson-to-Strat changer :scowl: sonicvi 09-27-2007, 04:43 PM The original KO Attack Eq is like THE least desirable EH pedal ever. I don't know why they bothered bringing it back. They might as well make the Screaming Tree again. MysticBoo 09-27-2007, 04:47 PM There must've been a demand for it in the guitard community... I don't see a use for it on my end. :hmm: funkalicious101 09-27-2007, 05:36 PM oooh, i gotta check out that holy stain.... someone has to buy the new memory man aswell. markjazzbassist 09-27-2007, 05:46 PM Umm... that's the wrong pedal. Bass Junkie 09-27-2007, 05:55 PM You act like I'm some sort of EHX insider! :p you are, just like i am a secret insider of you :ninja: god that sounded freaky.. ok, yeah i see why you said i was weird. Sir Edward V 09-27-2007, 07:20 PM Holy Stains are on ebay now btw, in case you hadn't seen. I've been waiting for that one to come out for forever!!! :hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper: Sir Edward V 09-27-2007, 07:22 PM :hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper: :ninja: **looks at bank account** :ninja: :D:D:D:D:D Basshappi 09-27-2007, 08:07 PM oooh, i gotta check out that holy stain.... someone has to buy the new memory man aswell. Actually I'm not interested in the MM. There is one in the local store and talking with the guys there they said it is digital which, to me anyway, seems counter to what the MM is all about i.e. analog echoy goodness. The Holy Stain might be fun to play around with. But my next pedal purchase is the Mini POG. MysticBoo 09-27-2007, 08:18 PM sorry peter. i had to much of that cake and didn't know which pedal was which. What kind of cake did you eat? :eyebrow: Sounds like something was added to make it "special"... :D ok, yeah i see why you said i was wierd. EHX's digital stuff is surprisingly good. They aren't Digitech or Line 6. :D Basshappi 09-27-2007, 08:23 PM ^ Oh I have no problem with digital pedals, it's just to me The Memory Man isn't the same if it isn't analog. :D MysticBoo 09-27-2007, 08:46 PM ^ Oh I have no problem with digital pedals, it's just to me The Memory Man isn't the same if it isn't analog. :D Looking at all its wild delay features... I don't think it was meant to be like the old Memory Man. At all. :p Basshappi 09-27-2007, 09:01 PM Hmmm, well perhaps that's my problem. Many of the new pedals have been simply putting the old, oversized pedals in smaller boxes and in some cases tweaking them a bit. Like the LBM, I like it much better than my old style NYC model because it has all the greatness without the tone suck and board eating size. So I was thinking of the new MM in those terms and finding out it was digital really put me off. However, if it is like you say I may give it a try. Gashaponcito 09-27-2007, 10:42 PM Speaking of EHX, I'm planning to get 2 of the tube pedals which ones would u recommend?? (hot tubes, muffin, zipper, etc) andrewd 09-27-2007, 11:25 PM Well, the Black Finger was originally solid state wasn't it? Maybe they could reissue that version of it. Sir Edward V 09-28-2007, 12:45 AM If you buy it, you'd better review it ASAP! Maybe they could reissue that version of it. Actually, that was the White Finger. It's still around, I believe. Hmm... maybe someone could A/B the White Finger, Black Finger, and Soul Preacher? I know the White and Black Fingers are meant to be practically the same (despite the tube difference)... I wonder how the Soul Preacher fits into the mix? :hmm: It has been paid for! they told me it should be about a week Looking forward to your review and clips! That one's an OLD Black Finger - before they made the tube-based version! That's probably the White Finger's predecessor. Copy-cat!!! :spit::spit: we will have to compare notes in about a week :) andrewd 09-30-2007, 04:24 PM Copy-cat!!! :spit::spit: we will have to compare notes in about a week :) I'm intrigued by this pedal. Does the expression pedal have one set function, or does it change based on which effect mode you're in? If it changes the speed of the tremolo, then I think I'll be a very happy camper. It's also made of plastic. http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/EXP-main.html andrewd 10-01-2007, 11:31 AM Just got this in response to an email to EHX. Hello. The expression pedal will control the pitch shift and the tremolo rates as well as the reverb time. It takes over for the amount knob. TRS Roland EV-5 is the pedal that we use for testing. Sir Edward V 10-01-2007, 11:39 AM cool on to the local vintage/used guitar shop to search for one... Sir Edward V 10-01-2007, 06:35 PM Muahahaha, mine came in today! So far things are going pretty good, though I have to say I am not instantly amazed by this thing, it seams pretty standard so far. Things I have learned so far: the pitch shifting is as perfect as the POG and actually can sound much more natural. the pitch shift goes from -4th and +3rd (major) and it is a normal knob not a switch knob I wish the pitch shift went higher and lower, but it sounds nice and smooth. I will post a full review later, when I have given it more time. no expression pedal yet... I want one... now... |
