Hey everybody

Got a few of my new pedals in yesterday and of course spent all day checking them out. But yesterday I played through my US G&L L2000 and today I ran through my MTD 435 that just got back from the shop. And today, I'm getting some distortion in the chain when the pedals are on.

Just wondering if it could be the higher output of the MTD and what I could do to keep my sound and tone but get rid of distortion. Thanks.

My chain is

Bass-> DOD Octaplus-> Micro QTron-> Ibanez AD9-> Ernie Ball VP JR.-> Amp

Yes, that's quite likely, although you should check all the batteries and power supplies to make sure they're ok. That includes the battery in your bass!

I solved a similar problem by using the level matching features of the EBS MicroBass II. But there are cheaper and simpler ways of doing the same thing - a simple attenuator box can be made with a couple of jacks and a pot, but it's far from ideal. Basically, any device that can handle the hot input without distorting, and has an output level control can be used to tame the hot signal. Just put it up front in the chain and drop the level until it cleans up.

Naturally, the quick fix alternative is just to turn down your bass!
