quadrogong 09-28-2007, 01:36 AM killer recording bass,lightest I've felt,slightly over 8 lbs...
1 5/8" nut width,feels more like jazz width.bridge was changed at some point,but it's strong,solid,Fender type.
Body, neck,pu's,tuners, hardware(not bridge)and pots are all original.
I suspect an older refin, clear coat's old and faded, but the texture seems a bit odd in 1 or 2 spots.
possibly non original pickguard, but that,I'm not sure of,
this is an incredible player, a stout sounding Pbass, pure, ballsy tone..light,and thin nut..but it's not a collector's bass, I never questioned the owner, nor did I pop the neck, it performed amazingly,I felt it was worth it and I still do.
if you are local, and serious, you can come and pop it with me..but if it was all original,I'd be asking twice this price..I have no doubt you will flip over it if u play it.
serial#:408876 indicates 1973 or early 74
Ash body I believe,(I was told)maple fb is worn in,looks like George Porter's pbass's fingerboard, part of what attracted me to it.
...a bit of fret wear,but doesn't affect setup,plays beautifully,
tone is pure and classic, the fattest open E of all the basses I've ever owned..
GREAT for rock,punk..this bass roars,rumbles,growls.
..cool,classic Jamerson/Roger Waters warm thud when u ease back the tone knob.
This was my recording bass for 2 major projects,my Sadowsky now gets 99% of the the action, this has unplayed been in my sadowsky case,unplayed..for too long.
..looking for interesting trades..cash sale,
or possibly a Sterling + a few hundred to buy some home studio gear.
anything with a MM near the bridge,1.5 nut width.. fretted 4's.
I'm pricing the bass at $1400, as far as trade value..
..PJ's,[/B]looking for new tones..
[/COLOR]..
will sell for $1400 ,
or part cash/part gear.
i purchased the black(Fender)thumb rest,
no case,It came with a gigbag w defective zippers, that I'd returned,& never received the replacement..lost in the mail perhaps..
I can buy a gigbag to ship,it will be shipped safely, from shipping dept at my office..or come over with a case,I can even wrap it and pay for cab fare if u live close to NYC or Astoria.
in NYC area? come on down!..try her out.
amazing player,pure,classic tone.not a collector's bass,but certainly very sellable, should increase in price,if anything.

P_bass 09-30-2007, 03:26 PM Bump for my 73 P's brother, other than the bridge they are twins. If you end up keepin it try a set of D'Addario Chrome Flats on it.

Hopefully Better than the Street Grade Dragon I grew up on...:smug:
darth by tor 11-01-2007, 10:08 AM Hi,
Do you still have the bass?
As I have a very clean 2001, Rick 4003 I may be interested in trading.
Im also In NYC.
darth by tor 11-01-2007, 12:44 PM Cool,
Just a couple more questions.
Would you be prepared in principle to do a straight exchange?
How's the action, any fret buzz?
quadrogong 11-01-2007, 01:42 PM yes, for a nice,clean ric.. thumb,or a nice growly 70's or CS jazz,
a US spector..
lakland 4-94..
I'd trade straight up for something i like.. sure!
que color???
action is quick,no dead notes or issues, although i never had it set up by a pro, my guess is that it'll feel even nicer if u did, i felt no need to,it felt ok out of the box, i lowered a saddle or 2,and it plays and sounds really nice to me. very pure, clear, passive, classic P tone...a creative and inspiring bass, fun to play..
tell me what color, and shoot over a pic or 2? don't leave me in suspense!
darth by tor 11-01-2007, 02:21 PM Nero et Blanc!
Well being a "Rush Head" it had to be really!
Sorry but I don't have any pics on my work pc.
Ampeg SVT 11-01-2007, 04:19 PM hey i have a 1976 gibson ripper, do you want to trade?
quadrogong 11-01-2007, 06:25 PM heh heh..thanks Ampeg SVT,not really my thang, but I'll take that 4-94 off your hands!
i'm really after a tealburst 4-94 deluxe
..that's my dream bass(of the week);)
PDubs 11-01-2007, 06:49 PM i'm really after a tealburst 4-94 deluxe

quadrogong 11-02-2007, 11:20 PM this bass is definitely going next week sometime,
looking at that ric later today, and a couple of Fenders next week.
Between that and what I've been already offered,It's enough.
..gonna decide next week after I've played those 3 basses,
If anyone wants to make a cash offer, that'll push ya right to the front of the line..:D
quadrogong 11-05-2007, 03:54 PM where's my thumb 4 ?
this Pbass is definitely one of the GREAT ones, all BS aside, and yeah, everyone says that..i know, but i'll stake my rep on it,
it may need a setup if u like super, super slinky action..but as of now, i think it's playing perfect, for me,at least.very playable with just enough height to dig in enough and get a pure, thick tone.
up to now, every person who's tried it,LOVED it..and wanted it.
I'd say it's 2 best qualities are
it's warmth-roundness-fatness & it's light weight
"really harmonically resonant","the pics don't do it justice","looks cleaner in person","wow, really light" and "plays just the way I like it" were some of the things my friend steve said when he played it, he's got a BEAUTIFUL ric that I looked at,and a really great player..
I'm going to make a choice after I play a bass this week.
a well worn Thumb or Smith 4(not Burner though)
is perfect,
...a cleaner one would be nearing dream-bass territory.

quadrogong 11-09-2007, 10:46 PM Thumb..baby..Thumb!
pbass is still here, getting alot of super fly offers,
gonna hang in for JUST a bit more..though.
bassteban 11-10-2007, 12:43 AM This bass hurts me, calls me, taunts me...
quadrogong 11-10-2007, 12:58 AM it IS really good, :)
better hurry though, i just found two used thumbs on craig's,out of state..and there's two folks inquiring about cash offers..
price is now $1350 guys, cmon, let's end this!
I wanna snatch up one of those warwicks..
you will love this bass.
It always inspires folks to play creative Jaco-esque Fender-y stuff..great,clear harmonics..thick,plush Fender tone..
narrow nut and SO light, plays quickly, great action
..and I've never had a pro setup, I'd imagine it'd play even finer with a pro setup, but at this point,It feels perfect,so I never bothered.
I bought it as a player, not a collector's peice,(which would have cost roughly twice this)
This bass satisfies, bottom line, you'll be impressed.
it's fun as hell..and if you're a good player, a tone nut..you deserve to play on something like this.
I
bassteban 11-10-2007, 01:01 AM I'm still so broke...
I can now sincerely use this smilie--->:bawl:
