Up for sale is my very good condition G&L ASAT bass. It is Blueburst over swamp ash and has a maple neck with maple fret board. It’s as light as any ASAT I have run across at 8.7 lbs. The neck date is June 29, 1991. This bass includes the original hard shell case, also in very good condition, and an ASAT strap extender. The price is $XXX dollars, which includes packaging, shipping, and insurance to anywhere in the continental US. I will be happy to ship overseas, but the total cost will be the actual cost of shipping plus the $xxx.
I purchased this bass from Basstodave here on Talkbass a little over a month ago. I am selling it because I have also just purchased a new American Jazz Bass (Black and Maple!) and cannot keep both. Since purchasing the bass I have installed a new set of DR Hi-Beams.
This bass in as nice a condition as any 16 year old bass you are likely to find. I have links to quite a few higher resolution images for your convenience. There is one minor flaw, a small dimple in the front of the bass above the neck pickup. I have managed to photograph it and it is noted on one of the linked photos, but is quite minor. Please be aware that the finish of the bass does have some very light scratches / swirls over most of it’s surface. These are normal with age (especially on darker finishes), invisible under most lights and difficult to photograph, so you may not see them in the linked pictures. It has no other issues. It plays fine, sounds good, and has a fantastic neck (1-1/2 wide, similar to a Jazz Bass).
The bass includes an ASAT Strap Extender (ASE), which is not currently installed. This is a plate which attaches to the neck joint and allows a strap to be mounted in a location similar to a standard bass with an upper horn. It is shown in the last linked photo. This is quite a handy device as Tele-style basses are prone to neck dive and this bass in no exception. The ASE eliminates neck dive and shifts the neck to a more conventional position. I have un-installed the ASE at the moment, but can re-install it for you prior to shipment, if you prefer. The case has been modified to accept the bass with the ASE mounted. The bass will also fit in a gig bag with the ASE installed.
That’s about all I can think of. I accept Paypal or Postal money order. I need to pay for the Jazz, so I am not really looking for trades, but feel free to run anything by if you like, the worst I can say is no.
Feel free to PM or e-mail me if you have any questions: Russ (at) standbyscrew (dot) com.
