it seems to me like my basses signal is "to hot".. the input on my amp is always clipping under heavy playing. (i play metal, so its alot of lower loud notes)

plus, i never use the stupid "phat eq" **** ibanez has on there, it just crams to much bass in there i cant get a good tone on my mids or highs.

so is there a way to just rewire my pickups and bypass the active eq?? will my current volume and tone pots be reusable??

its an ibanez edb500 (2005 model)

just wire straight to output jack...but if i were me, i'd keep the EQ, and learn how to use it....

or turn down your bass.

Sounds like you need to cut some lows, either at the bass or the amp, and a lot of the clipping problems would probably go away.

my low end on my amp is as far down as it will go, and the eq knob is down as low as it will go.. at shows, i get clipping on the input side.. still.. on my freinds passive bass, i dont get this, thus why i was assuming the active stuff was doing it

if it was a good eq, i'd use it, but its nothing like some of the others i've used, it only boost low end, and just drowns out all but the "e" string.. i've got my sound pretty much how i want it, i just can't play that loud before it get this crappy clipping
