I had the pleasure of seeing Edgar, Sam Bush and Jerry Douglas the other night in Gainesville. It was a nice show, some bluegrass and a lot of more progressive music.
I was blown away watching Edgar Meyer, the man did some amazing things and did it with such precision and technique. If you get the chance to see that trio, it would be worth the time and effort.

Nice catch. I'd love to see them, but I suspect I'll have to travel south of the Mason-Dixon to do that.
Have a couple CDs but the one I like best is "Hop, Skip and Wobble"

Hey John,
The above came from Sam's myspace so if you hurry, you might get that opportunity

I was in Gainesville twice last week and spent the week in Central Florida. I would have loved to have seen that.

I really love his duet album with Béla Fleck, "Music For Two." He plays a little piano on it as well. There's some bluegrass & jazzy stuff, as well as a couple J.S. Bach numbers. It's really something else!

It's really something else!
That applies to every CD Edgar puts out! The first solo bass album I ever received was "Work in Progress", and it remains my favorite to this day.
When I bought Appalachian Spring I knew who Yo Yo Ma and Mark O' Connor were but I was not familiar with Edgar. After listening to the CD, I formed the opinion that Edgar was easily the best musician of the three. I still have a difficult time dealing with the implications of that conclusion. Suitable analogies are difficult to conjure up.

We are going to see him and Hillary Hahn at Oberlin College in April can' wait. Since I have started classical bass lessons I got a couple of his classical solo bass CD's. Man what ever he does is fantastic.

saw him on the Short Trip Home tour with mike marshall, sam bush and some new guy, what was his name, something Bell (violin). Just Kidding Joshua Bell. If he practices he might get famous one day. Anyway, Edgar is the real deal.
