VIEW FULL LIVE VERSION : F/S Only: Mint Lakland Scheff/Shoreline Gold/MAPLE Neck!
Mint Lakland Shoreline Gold Scheff with MAPLE neck.
Ever seen a mplae neck Scheff? Prolly not;)
This one came to me from Quad. The stock neck twisted; Lakland replaced it under warranty with a new maple neck.
This is one of my favorite necks of all time; just a hair wider than a jazz at 1.6" wide, nice deep profile, fast, smooth, and just disappears in your hands. Satin finish on the back.
The stock lipsticks were opt'd out of at the factory, and Fralin J's were installed instead making this one even more unique. They're awesome pups. The Lakland pre-amp has a huge range of tones, and this bass kills in a live mix. The Shoreline Gold is stunning under stage lights.
No case, but a new Fender gig bag.

My review from when I bought her:

Hate to see her go; she's a unique beauty, looks awesome on stage, and plays like freakin' buttah...but, I've got other things on my mind right now.
These *seldom* come up f/s, this one's both unique and upgraded.
$800+ actual shipping
I prefer not to eat paypal on that much, so, money order please.
thanks-alan
emblymouse 10-27-2007, 08:55 AM I'd love to A/B it with my stock model. If MRPACKERGUY see's this maybe I can...I predict it will be gone by dinnertime.

Scheff Love Bump:bassist:Nice, but part of the Scheff allure for me is the lipstick pups and rw fingerboard.
phat daddy 10-27-2007, 11:41 AM I've seen a few Lakland's in shoreline gold-- what an amazing finish! It just shines. You should have no problem selling that bass, I wish I could take it off your hands but I'm working on a stack right now.
Quadzilla 10-27-2007, 11:46 AM Can't say enough great things about this bass! Was literally mint when I sold it to Chef and it had just had a full setup at Lakland. Looks, plays and sounds amazing. Somebody grab this unique, one of a kind beauty! I doubt there is another one like it and all options (maple neck and Fralins) were done @ Lakland!

Ya know, the Paypal :"eCheck" option works great. It's a $5 flat rate for the seller and only downside is that it take up to 4 biz days to clear (no biggie in my book). Just a suggestion...
GregC 10-27-2007, 12:54 PM I played this bass in the Chicago GC before Quad bought it, with the old neck (which wasn't twisted much at that point). I must agree with Chef, the range of tones is remarkable between the pickup spacing and the Fralins themselves. The body was very clean, and the finish looks great. Somebody oughta snatch this up.
I could do that...
thx for the suggestion!

For those that asked-and I forgot to say-this is a Skyline model.
Not that it matters much; Skyline build quality is astounding.
The Diaper Geni 10-28-2007, 08:01 AM I've got a Shoreline Gold Skyline Scheff (that's a mouthful!) with DiMarzio Model J's in it. I prefer the J's over the lipstick tube pickups. A little more balls without losing any of the punch. I'd think that the Fralin's are along the lines of the Model J's.
This is a cool bass at a good price!
BartmanPDX 10-31-2007, 11:51 PM Can't believe this is still here. Thank God I'm full up on basses, or I'd have some explaining to do when this showed up at my house.
Bump for a fantastic bass and an even better dude to deal with.
Humabass 11-01-2007, 07:16 AM Curious about one thing. You say "nice deep neck profile". I've never played a Scheff model but none of the JOs, Glaubs, or 4-94s I've owned had a very deep neck profile. Is this neck thicker than these other models?
I've never played any of those.
The neck is much more 62 J re-issue/G&L JB-2 than Geddy Lee.
I can measure depth later if you like, I gotta run.
95JettaCity 12-01-2007, 10:43 AM Free bump for a killer bass I wish I could pick up myself!

Quadzilla 12-01-2007, 04:19 PM Just a minor correction to the initial post. The original neck did not twist. The trust started to come thru the back of the neck (by the headstock). According to Lakland, there was a small run of defective necks when this one was built and they have since replaced most of them (including this one). The new neck (installed and setup by Lakland) is defect-free.
basspraiser 12-01-2007, 10:01 PM Nice, but part of the Scheff allure for me is the lipstick pups and rw fingerboard.
Come on!!! take the dive!!!!
PS - the Glaub now is a P/J and it is getting lots' o' love!!!

YOU could use another Lakland!!!
nebrbass 12-15-2007, 12:59 PM is the scheff bass still for sale?
