I know how to play the bass part, I just can't figure out the timing form listening to the song...can anyone help me out?

Got the CD with "Freebird" on it? Sit down.. get comfortable and don't get up until you mastered that super over-played song.. You can do it.. even the part on the end where the bass runs up the neck before going back down to the original octave.

Put down your bass and clap along till you have it. Then pick the bass backup a work on it. I've never willingly listen to the song so I'm not familiar with it, but that is how to approach any tune.
