Hi guys, need your imput on new SB-2 I just got last month. I seem to have a problem with the truss rod which I believe is the new design since my bass is just over a month.

When you look at the truss rod it sits about a 1/2" below the opening for it. The opening it sits in looks to be almost twice the size of the rod itself. The rod actually rest up against the rounded side of the neck instead of the center where you would think it should be. And since it's over to one side that leaves a space on the oppisite side of almost a 1/4" [ well maybe not that much.

I tried to turn the truss rod in either direction but it won't budge. Not sure if it's because it's up against the inner wall of the routing or if it's just a piece of junk [ not LOL ]

A smaller allen wrench rubs the top of the routing when I try to adjust the rod and a longer allen wrench won't fit straight in because as you know the hole ain't just straight down.

Called a tech at G&L and described the situation and he explained that the way the truss rod was situated is the way they are coming out of the plant IE normal I guess.

Does'nt seem normal to me so I'm sending it in to be checked.

Maybe I got the old truss rod with a new neck . Hell I don't know!!

Ain't happy though. Every other thing about the bass is great and am glad to have it.

O yeah by the way. This is my 3rd new G&L bass. The first one was destroyed in shipping by UPS. UPS replaced it and the second one came in with no problems. Which leads me to this bass my 3rd one. Opened the box when it came in and found a 1 1/2" crack in the case next to one of the metal legs and now the truss rod problem.

This is starting to take the fun out of getting G&L basses. Of which I have 3 and probably no more now.

So if any of you guys have any information or ideas let me know OK!

Thanks,

Eddie

I HOPE that isn't the way they're coming from the factory!! Good thing it's under warranty.

Man, I hate reading stuff like this, especially when I've got a custom L2K on order. Hope it works out for you.
