So, my band played our first gig this friday... It was a local student `s show, and we played U2-"Walk on" cover. A u2 cover without drums and with a flute instead of lead guiatar.
Lots of nerves gone, lots of new friends. But the perfomance was a psycho day from the very begging.
First, for this one gig we decided to choose to a temp name and it is "Salvador Dominico Felipe Jacinto Demishe Dali`s One Night Band".
At the sound check we needed a additional 30min to tune, so we we made a deal with the local headmaster - we got rid of the "Salvador..." part and they give us more time. They thought it was a good deal :)
Then, when we got something like 40 min left till the beggining, we found ourselves sitting around the guiatar-player. The flute-player girl was wearing an all-white medieval dress, vocalist girl in emo-outfit, and guitarist and me in brand-new handmade rastafarian hats. And then out of nowhere a guy came. A little man with a big camera said he was from the local tv and he needed some "backstage footage" for the news. I don`t knwo why did he choose us, but what would you sing when you are all nervous, wear a pshychodelic hat and your bass is an old-school Precision? Right, the guy got some funky reaggae in the style of "This is reggae, the jamaica jazz, weed is the king, cause Jah loves us"... :rollno::cool:
And the then we simply burned the audience. Great show :bassist:
