I have a band that is just starting out. We have gone through many name changes and I'd like opinions on which is best.

Liquid Angst
Dead Monkeys Living
Black Heaven

I've always been partial to "Bronco Billy and the Ball Bustin' Bull-Dykes", but that's just me, and not, apparently, on your short list.

(3 hrs later...) "...ur, eniwon got enee idehars yett..." (3 more hours pass...) "...er um well er lik eyve got two go ter skule termorer so c ual at nechst pwaktize er keep finkin abwot a nam fur su"

How about this, a slight modification to one of your ideas:


Dead Monkeys Live!

(instead of living)

That way, when you're playing a show, the banner could go like this:

Dead Monkeys Live!

and people wouldn't know whether the name was dead monkeys live! (as in, playing tonite) or dead monkeys live! (as in, zombies and stuff.)

Yeah, "Bad Ass Bass," if youre going to be a contributing member of TB, dont make crappy negative mean posts like that. "Liquid Angst" is cool, but makes me think of electronic music, acid jazz, or dance music. I'm not sure what type of music you play, but that name has a techno sound to it. I'm certain it isn't a country band or Christian rock. It certainly isn't blue grass. Maybe it is alternative.

Hmmm - not sure I'd want to be in a band called that. Just imagine people coming up to you and asking "Hey are you one of those dead monkeys?" and having to say yes.

And the headlines in the music press are bound to be along the lines of "the Monkeys spank!" or if it's a bad gig - "you pay peanuts and what do you get?" ;)

Sounds a bit similar to "Dead Kennedys" as well - Jello Biafra etc..

hmmmm...I hadn't thought of that "Are you one of those dead monkeys?" thing. I like the "The monkeys spanked" thing though. Thanks for enlightening me to possible problems.

not sure anyone got the Curious George reference...those of us with kids will know....
