I just hate the fact he's so damn good!!!

For my master class, we have to transcribe a minimum 32 bar solo of a bassist we wish to be able to solo like one day.

Who did I pick? Tony Grey. Monster Groove, Great guy, Killer player, and Melodic as a horn.

So...I chose "Kung Fu World Champion" off of Hiromi's Record.

BUT DAMN!!! It's taken me 2 days and i'm 11 bars out of 50!!!
AND IT ONLY GETS HARDER!!!

Wild...

Thanks for the inspiration though, Tony! :D

Yeah, Tony's great! I love his playing, have you seen his solo on "If (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OL4GDaulw1Q)"?
I really like his use of delay too. He's such a creative Bassist!

Love his playing, love his groove.

His tone is SOOO dry, ouch it hurts sometimes, I wish he'd play with less mids and a little more neck pickup a lot of the time.

Hiromi's records > all jazz fusion ever.

He is a great player, for sure!

I think I would have picked a Hellborg solo if I were in your shoes, or a Stanley Clarke solo, because I find it quite easy to emulate Stanley for some reason!

Tony is great bassist... the title of this thread might tick him off (or, maybe not :smug:), he is a TB'er BTW.

hah I know!
I've talked to him a bit over PM.

I wouldn't mind luring him in here.
That's why I put the (Not Really Though) in there! :D
I wouldn't mind picking his brain though.

Well...I like them, but I prefer Tony. I never really got into Stanley. He's killer, but not my style.

Yeah, great player, killer groove, but his tone is a bit too dry for me, too. His playing is fantastic, though!

Reeaalllyyy?

I wouldn't say ALL... but Hiromi's got some killer stuff out!

I love Tony's tone and chops. He's one of my current favorite players.

Reeaalllyyy?

Yes this is my opinion, from what I've heard I like Hiromi's the best.

Mine too.
The band is definitely a...modern fusion jazz, kinda style.
His technique is so weird, but it works! he manages to play faster than I can and I do rest stroke.

None the less, he's my favourite player out there now, James.
