VIEW FULL LIVE VERSION : Describe your band
Whitebread 07-17-2000, 11:32 PM Hey there everybody. I looked around a bit and couldn't find this topic, so would any of you out there like to describe your band for everybody. Just tell about your band
mates, your type of music, ecetera. And maybe include a link to it's website if you have one.
Biski2Dope 07-18-2000, 04:13 PM I'm no longer in a band, whee! I dropped out. But, i will describe my EX-band!
Better be careful how i word this...
Anyway, this is busface:
http://www.talkbass.com/ubb/cool.gif
She's the guitarist. Very focused on writing her own material. Probably the perfectionist of the group. I guess that's not a bad thing...
This is Debra:
http://www.talkbass.com/ubb/confused.gif
A little quiet, a little confused, but hey...nothing wrong with that. He's the drummer.
And now, for me:
http://www.talkbass.com/ubb/mad.gif
Bisk. Bassist. Laziness prevailed, i got pissed and left. I never wanted to cooperate. So, yeah...
Anyway, we had a site and still have one up...the addy is http://surf.to/antipop so go mess around with it.
------------------
I am rubber, you are glue. Whatever you say i will store in a little box just in case i need to shove it down your throat at any given moment.
Ktulu 07-18-2000, 04:32 PM OK, here goes...
My band's name is Nether-X.
Josh is the singer/lead guitarist (can't really do both at the same time yet).
Lowell is the rhythm guitarist.
I'm the bassist.
No drummer.
If any of you have never been in a band without a drummer, you would not BELIEVE the difference it makes. We've had a couple of them practice with us (didn't pan out), and the difference is just incredible. Even if they suck, the drums seem like they're about 50% of the music.
Anyway, I just had to say that. We don't have a website up yet, since we don't really consider ourselves a band considering we don't have a drummer. I'll let everyone know when we get one up, though.
Whitebread, are you in a band? Tyros, maybe? If you are, tell us about yourselves, if you don't mind.
Later, all.
The_Bass 07-18-2000, 06:28 PM My band...
Einar
The guitarist and singer(he can actually sing and play at the same time...)
Arnar
Guitarist(solo, he thinks) A real frikin' pain in the ass! and his initials are ASS. he´s just in the band so he won´t feel left out.
Bjössi
The drummer(is there more to say?)
and Me, Kjarri
The Bad-ass Bassist!
We play all sorts of music...
------------------
signature???? hmm...
Whitebread 07-18-2000, 07:47 PM Yeah my bands name is tyros, its latin for "beginners" our old singer was a foriegn exchange student from ukraine and he got sent home. Were a punk band with about a 50/50 split of originals and covers.
Matt is our lead guitarist and has taken up the singing for the band, he's a great guitarist and a pretty good singer, he sometimes has mood swings or something were he doesn't want to practice or something but it only last for a couple days.
Terry is our rythymm guitarist, he's pretty good at writing songs but not very good at playing because he hardly ever practices by himself. We like to make fun of him because he bought a cheapo flying v for no reason
Jordan is the drummer and he's really good at it, although he's a bit of a pothead. He gets mad when we make fun of his girlfriend because she looks like shes 7 years old.
And i'm the wierd bass player. I get called gay pretty often because I like to hit on terry and I wore this like 5'3" girls(I'm 6'0 tall) t-shirt and hot pants to the park(very disturbing)
We all get along really well except for matt's occasional mood swings and terry's temper.

melco 07-19-2000, 09:41 AM Heres the scoop...
We're three-piece chick band from adelaide we jam alot but haven't come up with a solid name... Our style is moody and depressing, but it's soo much fun and when I'm playing I couldn't be happier!! We've been told we sound like placebo/the cure but I'm stoaked to say i think we're alot like a Perfect Circle... http://www.talkbass.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
Our drummer tef is sooo inteligent it's scary and paranoia style... But she's really funny and nice, a great person to talk to and very wize about everything... But she's depressed quite alot, just like me http://www.talkbass.com/ubb/frown.gif
Prize possesion: Her sanity
Description: Wize
Our Guitarist blazer is very funky fashi0n bitch(Aaaaaahahahah) but very nice, she loves to bitch n talk about guys hehe and is almost never sad and willing to talk about anything. B is damn obsessive, just like me http://www.talkbass.com/ubb/wink.gif
Prize posession: Probably her friends
Description: Fashi0n bitch
I play bass(What else http://www.talkbass.com/ubb/smile.gif but i can't really describe myself... I got the band together, but i'm damn lazy so it was a while before we had our first jam... I'm the most laid back and cool with almost anything... Hehe I love sunglasses...
Prize possesion: Sunnies & Bass http://www.talkbass.com/ubb/wink.gif
Description: Laid Back
The one rad thing about the band is we're all so completely different, and there's only really a few similarities other than music tastes.
The one thing we all have in common is we look a hell of alot older than we really are and at times act like we're about 30. Not on purpose mind you. Which is also kinda freaky because i never even noticed.
Catchya
------------------
....i mean nothing against pizza, but i´m sure you´d rather play bass until your fingers bleed again... *lol*
000oooo yeah man!!
I love you man!!
Cyer n have fun.. Buy more magnet stuff... ;)

http://www.talkbass.com/ubb/mad.gif Thats Darryl, rhythm guitarist/singer. he gets mad and man does he lose his temper easily. he never gets mad at us though. except for the time he tried to beat the crap out of drummer but thats another story.
http://www.talkbass.com/ubb/biggrin.gif Thats Shelby, Lead guitarist. man can he rip out the lightnin fast solos! but hes a left hander so hes always under rated http://www.talkbass.com/ubb/wink.gif.
http://www.talkbass.com/ubb/cool.gif Thats Jake, the bassist/backing vocals (wow bet ya didnt expect that comin! http://www.talkbass.com/ubb/eek.gif ). well im so cool because i play bass..... and im also a co-founder of the band (thats why im so cool)
http://www.talkbass.com/ubb/tongue.gif Thats Stephen, the drummer. hes stickin out his tongue becuase hes still like 11 years old (but hes still an awesome drummer).
http://www.talkbass.com/ubb/confused.gif Theres Ryan, our third guitarist (yes thats right we have 3 guitars). hes so confused becuase he sucks at guitar and we are gonna kick him out of the band tomorow and he doesnt expect it comin.
:no picture available: Sam the hopeful? thats right, after we kick out ryan my brother sam may actually play rhythm guitar for us! kinda wacky huh? hes alright at guitar....but you know.....hes my brother....
and thats the whole gang

Scott, guitar/midi guitar/vocals

We've been together for almost 5 years (current lineup about 4) and we're all original. We have a sound that has progressive music complexity with pop sensibilities. Dig it!

Stingray5 07-20-2000, 04:50 PM Hey all,
I'm in a progressive rock band called Ice Age. We're on Magna Carta records. Our second album is due out around Jan. 2001
http://www.ice-age.com
~Loxley~ 07-20-2000, 04:55 PM I'm in two bands:
Band #1: TINITUS
Robin (me)
http://www.talkbass.com/ubb/cool.gif
I'm the lead singer and the bassist. I also play guitar occasionally if required. I am also by far the biggest smartass in the band aswell as the founder which is why I gave myself the "cool" smilie.
Martin
http://www.talkbass.com/ubb/confused.gif
Our guitarist. Martin is a great guy, and an exellent guitarist. He can play any song with no trouble. He learned the entire solo of "Nothing Else Matters" in like 10 minutes. He's also kind of confused and not so bright...
Frigge (Frederik)
http://www.talkbass.com/ubb/smile.gif
Our drummer's real name is Frederik, but we call him Frigge. He is (I'm not kidding) the best drummer I have ever met. There's no doubt in my mind. When we play live, audiences always want a drum solo from Frigge after the concert. And he delivers it with style. He is the 'Mr. Nice Guy' of the band.
___________________________
Band #2: SYMPATHY WITH THE DEVIL (I know it's an old Stones song...)
Christian
http://www.talkbass.com/ubb/wink.gif
Christian is the lead singer of the band. He has a great voice and he's also the guy who gets all the girls (which is why I like my other band better http://www.talkbass.com/ubb/biggrin.gif)
Alex
http://www.talkbass.com/ubb/frown.gif
Our rhythm guitarist. Nice guy, but sadly dominated by his b**ch of a girlfriend..
Stephan
http://www.talkbass.com/ubb/cool.gif
Now here's a guitarist who knows what he's playin'! Stephan is a great guitarist with a big musical future! He is a bit of a smartass though...
Jonas
http://www.talkbass.com/ubb/tongue.gif
Our drummer is Jonas. He is a cool guy with a great sense of homour. Unfortunately, he's not a very good drummer...
Robin (me)
http://www.talkbass.com/ubb/confused.gif
Then there's me... Bassist and backing vocals. There's not much to say.. I'm just the bassist.
~Loxley~ (I'm a guy http://www.talkbass.com/ubb/wink.gif)

brewer9 07-21-2000, 01:38 PM stingray5, looks good, but whats with no gigs happening? do you actually have no gigs or is the website out of date? looks worthwhile though. cant wait to get home to hear something.
------------------
(WARNING: THIS IS ANOTHER STUPID TIME WASTING POST BY BREWER9. PLEASE DO NOT READ IF YOU ARE TOO SERIOUS!)
Stingray5 07-21-2000, 03:08 PM Hey brewer,
No gigs happening at the moment as we're still in the studio finishing up recording our second album. Then the mixing process begins and, since we're doing it all ourselves, we go back and forth between "gig" mode and "recording" mode.
After the album is complete, we hope to maybe hook up with a bigger name band and do some touring. Maybe the record label will help us out with that http://www.talkbass.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif Keep your fingers crossed for us!
Later,
Arron
brewer9 07-21-2000, 04:02 PM Gotcha! thats way cool. i hope the recording comes out as you want it to.
vectormane 07-22-2000, 01:45 AM My "band" is/was called Restricted, but we don't like that name anymore, so we're nameless right now.
Danielle - The lead singer/songwriter, and the control freak. But she has an assload of lyrics.
Joe - Lead guitar/Drummer (not really), he only knows like 5 chords, but he's still pretty cool. He is our drummer by default, since he owns a set, but he can't play guitar and drums at the same time.
Mike - Rhythm Guitar, he only knows like 3 chords, and his guitar is broken, but he's also pretty cool.
Ashley - Backup Vocals/Backup bass - She founded the band, and was bassist before I was. But now she switched to singing. She is also a control freak. She likes to hit people
Xavier - Bass - Me! I've got the most skill and the least creativity in the band. I'm also the peacekeeper. I'm also the coolest member, or so Ashley and Joe say, because I put my ::ahem:: organ in sweet and sour sauce.
JLeeFJ 07-22-2000, 05:26 PM Yes, I claim not to have a band. Here's what I was attempting:
Zach: Vocalist/lyricist/keyboardist
Cool guy, good keyboardist, excellent lyricist. I might try to get something set up with him. We could probably record an album betwixt the two of us.
Michael: Drums/guitar. Sucked at both, knew it, abandoned the cause. He could've become a decent guitarist, but he's got one of those things called a "social life http://www.talkbass.com/ubb/confused.gif." Oh well.
Jonathan: Guitar-like noises. The guy has spent a good $6000 over about three years on equipment and lessons, but he can't play worth $#!t. He couldn't write a single riff, couldn't think of something different to play over my stuff, and I took fifteen minutes to teach him a slow, simple, drop-d riff that lasted all of three seconds. I think he still thinks we have a band.
Jarrod (me): bass/keyboard like noises/semi-drummer/guitar. I'm a musicians kid, what can I say? I inherited a little skill. I've only been playing a little less than a year, but I can still play well enough to blast Jonathan out the window. I wasn't really that interested in a band, but I got roped into it anyway. We held practice at my house, since I'm the only one with a drum kit and a buttload of amps, along with a little studio equipment. I think we had all the band members in one place about three times. One of which was a concert we were attending. Even then, we still couldn't quit arguing.

Sheep Man 07-22-2000, 06:19 PM We've sorta decided on changing our name every time we play, unless we find a really good name. Our next name-to-be is gonna be The Quantumbitchumboobalators.
Allcock (Well, that's just his last name. Honestly! His first name is Jon): Drummer/rhythm guitarist/singer #1. The one that's good, but always thinks/knows he can do better. However, he can't play guitar, drums and sing all at the same time. http://www.talkbass.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif
Nam-Hi: Drummer/rhythm guitarist/singer #2. The guy that's damn good at both guitar and drums, but unfortunately can't play both instruments and sing at the same time either. http://www.talkbass.com/ubb/tongue.gif
Adley: Bassist/backup vocals. Me. http://www.talkbass.com/ubb/biggrin.gif Ummm...lazy and constantly bored unless he's playing something on his bass. Unfortunately, here in my grandmother's house in CA, the dog seems to get very annoyed when I play, so it's kinda hard to play as much as I'd like without the dog constantly barking out complaints.
Jenn: Lead guitarist/singer. She's mainly in it because she's Jon's girlfriend, and he taught her some basic guitars. UNfortunately, she's not so great with chords, so she was given the role of lead guitarist. She's actually a cellist, but oh well. http://www.talkbass.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
Alfred: Frequent guest violinist. Out of us all he's the most 'local' of Hong Kong. Kick-ass violinist though. Said he wants to learn bass, too. http://www.talkbass.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
------------------
I am a pool of extremely useless information. Take no notice of me whatsoever.
Laker 07-23-2000, 02:01 AM 10 piece band that will take too long to describe but its all available at our website, www.groovehogs.com. (http://www.groovehogs.com.)

BassDudeJake 07-26-2000, 01:41 PM My band's name is Liquid Angst and here it is:
http://www.talkbass.com/ubb/eek.gif Nath (Nathaniel)-Lead Guitarist, likes the Beatles like I do but is a little wierd
http://www.talkbass.com/ubb/mad.gif Woj (Wojtek)-Drummer, plays guitar, but in our first and only gig he played drums 'cause we couldn't find anybody else to, very enthusiastic
http://www.talkbass.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif Ellie (Ellinore)-Second Guitarist/Lead Vocals, has an awesome voice, and is okay at guitar. Gave name to band and is very enthusiastic
http://www.talkbass.com/ubb/biggrin.gif Kenny-Back-up Vocals, isn't very good at singing and made himself part of the band without us knowing
http://www.talkbass.com/ubb/confused.gif Me-Bass, can't sing, but I'm good at playing bass. I'm very enthusiastic and I put together the band with Woj
------------------
Playing bass is not a hobby. It is an essential.

Brendan 07-27-2000, 09:21 PM Band's Name is as yet undecided, something like Dark Horizon, Penny Dreadful, Inside Out, or Youth Of America, anyway....
Chris: Rhythm/Lead Guitar and vocals. He's my best bud, and he's a good guitar player, but he just can't play heavy or hard enough dammit! but he's cool. SOunds like Jacob Dylan (Bob's kid)
Me: I'm the bassist and vocals When I say heavy, and chunky, I mean it! And people say I sound like James Hetfeild and Wayne Static
Josh: Guitar- He's cool. hard rocker through and through. He's just not that good at guitar (he's rhythem)
And the drummer is being worked out most likey
Rod: He's quiet. REALLY quiet, but REALLY good at guitar and drums.
We are taking a hard rock approach to it. Sound like Godsmack, Bush, and Creed mixed together. I'm trying to get a three drum rhthem section, becasue I love drums, but the other guys think it's to much like Slipknot. Screw them, I like drums! Lots of them. It's primal, and really surreal. I want more drummers!

lildrgn 07-28-2000, 07:35 PM Cool topic
We're a 3 piece pop/prog band seeking a singer. Currently we have:
On guitar: Jerry.
Very clever and funny. Majored in English in college (as did I) and writes all the lyrics, melodies and songs.
Best quality: brings songs in when done/doesn't hog spotlight.
Worst quality: can be moody/needs to "dirty" up sound sometimes.
On drums: Mike.
Only long-hair in the band. He's caring, friendly and seems to know everyone in town.
Best quality: works for GC/brings chops to the table.
Worst quality: gets carried away w/electric drums at times/seems to know everyone in town.
On bass: Yours Truly.
After 13 years of playing, finally trying to mess with effects (new Bass POD owner!). I'm the band smart ass.
Best quality: IMHO, great ear/won't overplay even tho Ged is my God.
Worst quality: can use my gear, cannot figure it out/can be too much of a smart ass.
What's great about my band is that the three of us are normal guys. No personality issues or any of the common band ailments. I like these guys so much that they're going to be groomsmen in my wedding.

ikickuintheballs 07-29-2000, 01:17 PM Here's my group =P we're called useless information.. we're kind of punk and kind of metal.. (I'm the metal and my guitarist is punk and my drummer is neutral)

If i loosen the base of the pigtail, i can swing them around like numchucks. It's been known to harm. But alas, i wouldn't hurt you...i would just...nicely shove you in the duck pond.

we are extremely small time,
GOOSE -- our guitarist. he is heaps cool, a little crazy, but heaps cool
ASHLEY -- our drummer. natural born drummer
ME -- modest bass player who aint gonna brag about his abilities
Biski2Dope 08-04-2000, 08:16 PM Psh, what, you gonna choke me with a lilly pad? Yeah, maybe...::tosses angus in duck pond::

Eric Cameron 09-03-2000, 10:46 PM My band, called Khemisstry, all punk/metal/classical rock:
We would have our webpage link here, but since we may never have it again due to a computer crash, it may have to wait a while.
:DMeghan: Singer/keyboard. I have never played with a keyboard, but I liked the idea. She is also my girlfriend of over six months, but we are still cool, and will stay together for a long time. Mayhaps will become my wife. *sigh* One can only hope. Has a voice like an angel, since she is in the school choir as a soloist.
:oMe: Bass/backup vocals. I also do vocals on the harder stuff we do, like Metallica and Sabbath.
:)Matt: Lead guitar. A very talented guitarist, has been playing for about eight years. Quiet and shy, is the dream of every bass player, a guitarist with no ego!!
:)Jeff: Rhythm guitar. This is Matt's little brother. He isn't as talented at Matt, which is why he is on Rhythm instead of lead. But he is working on it. Also quiet and shy, with no ego.
:DGreg: Drummer. Greg is probably a better drummer than many professionals. I have seen him do solos with one hand, eyes closed, drinking a Dew with the other hand. He also drums for the school Jazz band, and took 1st in Regional in Rudimentary Snare. Makes Lars Ulrich look slow.
:confused:Bob: Techie/lyricist. Bob used to be our drummer, but he had to move a few days ago, and his new house doesn't have room for the drums AND the equipment. He sold his drum set, and is now our mixer/recordist. Very proficient guy for writing lyrics, and also has a very good sense of humor. Was the first guy I asked to join my band.
Thats about it. We recently recorded our first full length album, on Bob's little 424 4-track. We have only written seven songs, but we are still trying, plus a LOT of covers that we know.
Rock on
Eric
[Edited by Eric Cameron on 09-03-2000 at 10:55 PM]
Nate Dawg 09-04-2000, 01:04 AM I just joined my first band last week. In fact, the whole group is made up of band-virgins. We're called Ghetto Blaster and we cover everything from Guns n' Roses to Alice Cooper to Hot Water Music. Here's our lineup:
Matt: Lead Guitar... Good at solos and has an awesome Crate setup. Only been playing for about 2 years. Least musical theory knowledge, but has good ideas. Big emo/indie rock influence.
Barry: Rhythm guitar... Has not played guitar for a while, but starting to get back into it. Had 8 years of trombone experience prior, so is pretty good with the musical theory stuff. Another big emo/indie rock influence.
Me (Nate): Bass... I probably have the most ability, which kind of makes up for the other guys. I had 9 years of trumpet playing experience before I picked up the bass 1 and a half years ago. I guess I bring the hard rock/hip-hop influence to the group.
Ryan: Drums... He's moving his set in tomorrow, so we'll see how he works out. We asked him to join without hearing him because he's the only person we know willing to move his set over to Barry's house.
We don't have a singer yet, but since we're only gonna play house parties and stuff around campus, we'll have random friends sing for us.
ashers27 09-04-2000, 12:43 PM How do you guys pick band names?
[Edited by ashers27 on 09-04-2000 at 03:08 PM]
My Band:(Main Serious Band)
TORN SILENCE (yes it is a crap name)
Its style is HARDCORE METAL. (not my idea - but it works)
The band members are:
Ollie - Vocals, General Roadie
Grant - Guitar, second vocals, song writer, financer
Aaron - Wicked Drummer (very very talented), Singer on non-drum songs
Me (Reg) - Bassist, guitar tech, sound tech, not singer (thank god)
2nd Band (Pretty Casual)
This Band is called AARON and the BOYS (dunno why our drummers a chick)
Its style is Rock with a bit of swing to it
Aaron - Vocals, Guitar, Studio Drummer
Caroline - Live Drums
Luke - Keyboard
Reg - Bass or guitar depending on the song
3rd Band (Extreamly Casual, ie only ever had 1 gig)
This band is unnamed and is my real creative outlet. It is a house, fusion, acid jazz style band
Ryan - Guitar
Reg - Bass, Slide guitar
Korg - Drum machine
Well thats my weird bands , taht are all really cool in there own way, Thanks for listneing
DownCaster 09-11-2000, 07:19 PM my band is called Satan's Wang and we like to do classical music with a mix Death-Black Metal Thrown in. :D :D :D
ok really now that i got that outta my system...
Band Name: DownCast (for any of you wondering it means depressed and when it was named the lead singer was bassically very sucidial)
Music: Metal...we do Manson Coal Chamber System of a Down and Fear Factory covers and originals
we are very sarcastic and are bassically one of the outcast bands of the area (considering that we have different originals than the rest of the area)
Singer:Kalin...one of the koolest guys alive. can make anyone laugh. he can be an ass...but that is what makes him funny. I guess you can say he is the Band Founder. writes most of the music.
Guitarist:John...Kool guy. this kid can tab out just about any song. great guitarist. wrote our biggest song. kind the d*ck of the band...but that is kool
Drummer: Dave...umm...well...he is a drummer. He is the one in the band that can play something on every instrument. originally a guitarist...but sucked and had a drum set. We fight constinally. we have been friends forever so i think that is why we fight.
Bassist: I wonder... :)i am Bryan and the asshole of the band.i am the finishing touch. they were a band without me...but needed someone to hold the low frequncies and i fit the application
Willie Dizon 09-13-2000, 02:01 PM My band's name is "Elder."No, we didn't steal the name from a Kiss song. We've put out two albums, one on Liquid Disc and one on Bulletproof Records. We've been through two drummers.(Don't worry dudes,I've got nothing but good things to say.)The core of the band is:
Vocals/guitar-Joe Albanese
Percussion-Cat Albanese
Guitar/vocals-Bryan Whitfield
Bass/vocals-Me
Joe is the leader/spokesperson,He's full blooded Italian,he's not shy.
Cat is his wife, she's pretty, but, not eye candy she's a good percussionist.
Bryan,the other 6 stringer,somewhat laid back,but isn't shy either
Then there's me.The moody sometimes deppressed bassist. If I ever quit this band I'll ask Keanu Reeves to fill my spot or Derek Smalls from Spinal Tap.That's us in a nut shell.
nickis thebest 12-16-2000, 05:55 PM our band isnt too great but were punk to the core so it doesnt matter
me-bass, singer half the time, not a good songwriter but i try anyway
crag-guitar, other singer, weve know each other a long time and hes really good
dirk-guitar, hes always either high or just lost. plays a lot of metal so we have to kick his ass sometimes cuz hes a poser, not really that great at guitar either
gas man-drummer, perhaps the only real talent in the band
Erlendur Már 12-17-2000, 06:08 PM Well..I´m kind of in 3 bands, but 2 of them are on a break, so I´ll just describe the one that isn´t on a break.. (Remember these are Icelandic names so they will probably sound stupid..)
Haffi-Singer/Guitarist..He´s the best drummer I´ve ever seen..
Óttar-Guitarist...He´s pretty good, not as good as Haffi, though..
Stebbi-Drummer...He´s good, but not as good as Haffi...
Me-Bassist(duh..)..I´m just the bass player..I just play. The other members get the gigs and stuff..
EdgarHons 12-19-2000, 06:36 PM Seems like a fun topic, here's a review of my ex-band...I can't use real names or they'll probably sue, so here goes..
Me: Singer...didn't sing before joining, couldn't sing at all when I first started. It was more like rhythmic talking, and that wasn't what I was trying to do. Later I got better, but really only evolved into growling and such. Good lyric writer though...I became the singer cause I was videotaping one day and apparently I was better than the bassist who was singing previously.
M (M,R,J): Lead Guitarist...awesome, best musician I've ever played with, although unfortunately I've never actually played with him. (Get your mind out of the gutter) I was singing only when he was around, I only started playing bass after he had moved to Texas...he now lives in Arkansas and is apparently 76.4 times better...he's movin back up here for college, we're gonna play together and rock the nub.
E: Bassist...not good. He's the reason I started playing. Took him like 2 weeks to learn Mission Impossible. Never seemed to go up that learning curve.
B: Drummer...he replaced our old drummer and unfortunately we never had a show with him as the 5 piece (Other B and I played with him recently) He was awesome too. He's got an uncanny sense of rhythm, is great with fills and writing too. He's an awesome teacher, and is easy to understand.
B: Really more of a Second Guitarist than a Rhythm Guitarist. His rhythm was off a lot and he wasn't that great when he first joined. He's real good now although his rhythm still isn't perfect. Oh well, that's what I'm for ::does the rolling eyes smiley::
We rocked the nub totally...if you want a history of the band, like IM me or something, I'm usually on.
Munjibunga 12-19-2000, 10:08 PM OK, I had this in that other thread, but you can have it here, too. Oh, we're giving our band line-ups? OK.
Erin - Lead vocals. Cord winder. Sound man apprentice girl. Obviously, does all the girl songs. Bonnie Raitt, Shania, Tracey Chapman, Wynona, Trisha, Faith, Martina. Did I mention she is good? REAL GOOD. Memorizes all songs within a week of assignment. NEVER uses cheat sheets.
Scot - Lead vocals, backup vocals and acoustic guitar. Does all the high-pitched stuff, John Fogerty, Hal Ketcham, Dwight Yoakam, what-have-you. We can sound exactly like Creedence if we have to.
Br'er Paul - Rhythm and acoustic guitars. He's the guy that Mark Knopfler sings about in "The Sultans of Swing." You know, "doesn't wanna make it cry or sing" or something like that. Lead and backup vocals (ballads ... you know, Clint Black, John Michael Montgomery, George Strait).
Brad - Lead guitar. Lead and backup vocals (all the Stones stuff and blues, plus the ubiquitous "Johnny B. Goode"). Brad's style has a hint of 50's in it, only he can REALLY play.
Mike - Drummer. Drums. Drums well. He's not a loud drummer ... uses those pencil-thin sticks. I bought him a pair of telephone poles early in the game. He laughed, put 'em in his bag, and they haven't seen daylight since. It's a good thing we have plenty of channels to mic the drums. Never speeds up, knows all the licks.
Munjibunga - Five-string fretted and fretless electric bass guitars. Backup vocals. Sound man when the sound man can't make it. Chord fixer. Dynamics pointer-outer. Groover. Assistant snake winder.
Derwin - Sound man. Plays bass in at least two other bands (one Hawaiian, one classic rock). Loads and unloads gear. Snake winder. Owns rehearsal space (his carpeted garage). Soon to stand in on songs that I play mandolin in.
Well, that just about wraps it up.
metallicarules 12-21-2000, 12:30 AM Ok, since everybody is doing this I will too.
We couldn't decide on a band name so we name ourselves "Undecided". We don't have a singer or a style since we've only been playing a couple months.
David aka "Biff Remis" - Lead Guitar
Myles "just a little guy" - Rhythym Guitar
Shane "smelly cheese man" - Drums
and, Me "The Big Man" - Bass
BTW I feel obliged to mention probably the best unknown band in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada "Red Mist Club". They are 10 years older than us but are still cool.
Mike - Lead Guitar/Backing Vocals, he's been noted to say "could Hendrix do this?" a number of times.
Kenny - Rhythym Guitar/Vocals, he's got a great voice and is probably the best Guitar play in Edmonton next to Mike.
Shaun - Bass/Backing Vocals
Eric - Drummer, he's a perfectionist and doesn't enjoy playing as much as the others but he's damn good.
CjPhishPhan 12-21-2000, 10:41 PM Well my band is called Pelican Element and we are composed of the following:
Matt: Great Piano player, not such a great singer but he's the best we got.
Erik: Does well on Lead guitar, but not great with Rhythm and sometimes too loud, obsessed with effects.
David: Crazy drummer (Aren't they all a little crazy???) Awesome at what he does, likes getting his way.
Alex: Obsessive-Compulsive Violin player. 'nuff said
and Me on the bass.
Sound really good together, havent got many gigs yet, but we argue a lot so it gets pretty interesting.
Our website is very interesting with stories written by David and Erik (Fictional stories, but some of them are based on actual occurences, very funny)
