SWR Silverado 4x8...$200, or, $400...
Wierd price point huh?
The details:
$200 as it was...
$400 as it is...
Let me explain;)
Here's the deal:
I bought this for $400 as fully functional off ebay.
It showed up with 4 pretty tired drivers, and a blown tweeter.
So, I replaced the drivers with LDS long throw 8's, and a new LeSon tweet, spending another $225.
Specs from swr's site:
SILVERADO
The original 4x8 Silverado Combo produced 220 watts RMS, (320 watts RMS with 8 ohm extension speaker) and contained the following features: tuner send, side chain effects loop, effects blend, headphone jack, variable midrange, balanced XLR record out, automatic switchable compressor/limiter, three way speaker select switch, headphone jack, Four PAS 8" drivers, One Piezo tweeter.
Dimensions: 23"W x 24.875"H x 16.5"D
Weight: 70 lbs.
Production Period: 1994 to 1997
Final Retail Price: $1299.00
Build date of 2/7/95 on the transformer inside of this one...
The description above is clearly at odds with what's on the unit's faceplate which says 350 watts.
The rear panel makes no reference to power, or ohms for either the combo, or extension speaker. I've run it a lot at 2 ohms at which point I figure it's making 450 watts like current silverado or super redhead-but even swr c/s doesn't have a solid answer for this.
It's a nice unit, and seems very similar to both the Redhead, and Basic Black I've had in the past; which were both great sounding, great recording, reliable units.

I'd also consider sellling just the power section of this. If that interests you, we'll work on price.
thx-alan
