I've been struggling in the past few weeks to find a recording or even a bassist that sings along with his solos. I've heard it done like Victor Bailey's version of Continuum/Do you know who and I've also heard Bassists that scat with their solos on youtube. I'm in a jazz improvisation class at my university and I'd like to find a solo that's doubled with bass and voice for a transcription that's due for the final. If anyone can lead me in the right direction, I would be greatly appreciative. Thanks.

Richard Bona definitely does it quite a bit and I think I've seen it on Youtube at some point. Just search him and you'll probably find what you're looking for,

bird's version of all the things you are, has a really easy quick bass solo at the end of the first chorus with singing along.

Les Claypool. A lot of Primus songs are arguably one long bass solo, but Tommy the Cat comes to mind. Maybe not what you're looking for, but eh.

Oteil Burbridge (Aquarium Rescue Unit, Allman Brothers Band, Vida Blue, Peacemakers) is the first bassist who comes to mind when I think of scatting along with his playing. It's an integral part of his style so you should be able to find music/video examples quite easily. Also upright bassist slam Stewart whistled along with his arco solos.

Oteil is exactly what I'm looking for. Although I can't tell which songs I would like to do through I tunes since the samples don't get to the solos. If there is anyway someone could suggest a song with a learnable solo that'd be amazing. I've been listening to his stuff that is out on youtube but I don't think that would be a proper media to bring into class...

Oteil is probably the best and most current cat doing this. I play some of my solos like that but I surely ain't no Oteil!!

Victor Wooten sings along to a very interesting version of "A Night in Tunisia" off of the Bass Day '98 DVD.

Not really bass, but he does play 3 "bass" strings...

I have never heard any of Oteil's music that's he done without other bassists, but if you have the chance to grab something off I-tunes with him on it, I'd suggest:

Bass Extremes - "Dumpcake"
Bass Extremes- "To Serve Man"
Bass Extremes- "Eye of the Beholder"

Those all have some nice Oteil solos on them..
