My problem is G&L only lists swamp ash on the body wood of my bass (it's a natural finish), and it seems really heavy for swamp ash. My '95 L2000 is a Honeyburst with ash body.It weighs in at just under 10 lb. They used to make heavy L2500's with ash bodies but now I think they use basswood with an ash laminate. DavePlaysBass 11-28-2007, 05:41 AM Swamp ash can vary quite a bit in density or weight. On average I would say it is heavier than alder. If you have a transparent finish that shows wood grain, you probably have a swamp ash bass. Post a pic. lug 11-28-2007, 09:33 AM My 98 "Swamp Ash" L2000 is by far the heaviest bass I own.
