Ahhhhhhhhhh!

Now that's better. Got the blueburst yesterday...sounded ok with the Xl's, a little better but tinny with lo-beams...slapped my chromes on there and BAM! I got my tone.

Man this thing thunders, now that i have the controls down it's easy to dial up a full P, thunderous MM and a chimy fat Ric sound. I might spring for modding the series/paralell switch to do single coils to get a ballsy jazz sound.

Thank you Craig...this is the bass I was hearing for so long.

Maple or rosewood board? I have a maple / ash Tribute that just is not as ballzy with XLs as I think it should be.

Rosewood. The Chromes are just nasty on this bass...lovin it!

This is encouraging, because I just bought some D'Addario Half Rounds and GHS Brite Flats for testing on my L-1500. Glad to hear you dig the Chromes with MFD's. I'll get slightly more brightness with the Half Rounds, but the they're a pretty thick gauge (.050-.105) so I'll get phatness too.
