Hi guys,
i tried a bass yesterday, man!!! very easy to play, fast, perfect action!!!!
The bass was coming back from a luthier (one that i didn't know) He adjust is neck straight, no relief and adjust the action with the string height adjustment on the bridge and nuts....
What do you think? Is there someone here who do it this way too?
thanks

action is subjective and depends a lot on the player's technique. I play with a light touch and setup my basses with no relief and low action and that works perfect for my technique, but some find it too low and buzzes with their technique and others feel it fits their technique just fine.

This is my take on it ...
No relief and low action is better for fingerstyle
Relief and low action is better for slap playing
Works for me. The action is low in both instances, the no relief option feels subjectively lower in the lower register by a bit, if anything.
Maybe it has to do with the primary vibration axes of the string in the respective playing style ?
I adjusted my Cirrus 6 this way with no relief and used the ABM bridge for he adjustment. It worked well and I got no fret buzz in any way. As said before; it depends on your style and technique. I love it! -Luke

I also have my bass set up with no relief, and low action. I play pretty hard and slap, with no problems.
The frets must be perfectly level! I like my frets a little lower than I used to.
