Hey guys i've just aquired one of these.
I put it into my tech last week to give it the once over and he has come back with a big problem!
The bow on the neck is not in the usual place i.e between 5-7 frets, its between the 10-12th.
The intonation is impossible to get spot on and notes above the 12th fret are out of tune slightly.
Also the action needs to be a mile high to eliminate buzzing.
Have any of you guys had/come across this problem before?
I gonna contact G & L direct as well but thought i'd get a heads up here too.

im definately going to get a 2nd opinion and look into the cost of replaning the neck etc. Its got the 3 boltneck too which means finding a (cheap) replacement will be tough.

When I first got my Lynx (bought new in either 88 or 89, can't remember which) I fought with it for a long time before I got the setup where it was comfortable. Once I finally got the neck bow and tilt right, it has barely needed to be touched since.

There are more adjustments boult into these basses than any other instruments I've played or worked on. If you can find someone who has some experience with G&L instruments they should be able to sort you out more easily than your average guitar tech.

thanks im gonna try and find a G & L specialist to be honest. They're few and far between (in the uk) im afraid. Im going to get a quote from my tech to see how much it will cost to fix (he's talking about heating the neck etc) but will definately be getting a 2nd and 3rd opinion.

Hi, I thought I wrote a reply to this thread...maybe it never got there ? anyway, I got an L2K with a ski slope neck at the 10th ( purchased it as a dog, no worries there) so I took off the strings, let the truss rod go and let it hang from the nut on a guitarstand that only supports the neck at the nut for a week, I also tightened and loosened the truss rod daily, after a week I loaded a light guage set of bass strings and adjusted the truss rod in, let it hang still, set it up and its now 80% better and only a real fussy low action freak would pick up on any issues, im in the uk too and know a good luthier or two if you need anymor help.:)

yeh if you could pass on there details ill give them a shout. The tech its with at the moment has come back with an estimate of between £100 and £200!!

Hi, firstly theres a used neck on evilbay uk,early sb 2, the 1st luthier and most accesible is danny at d m guitars, just google him and e mail him, some find him slow but ive not had any probs, he built me 2 basses.

thanks for the heads up ill give him an email. The neck on ebay is :hmm: mines is mint and the newer version headstock. Plus the cost of that neck would be more then what ive been quited to repair this one. Im gonna take you tip as well cos the bow is hardly noticable, hopefully that will straighten it out. thanks for your help though!
