I have an American L2500 I bought used on eBay, I fear it has the dreaded truss rod/neck problem I've been reading about. I took it to a local repair shop to see if they could set it up. I should be hearing by tomorrow if they were able to. If not, I got a quote from Chris at G&L who said it would be AT LEAST $600.00 not including shipping... ouch! Hopefully, my local shop will be able to fix it. The problem I was having was that the truss rod wouldn't budge in either direction. They said it might not be busted but it might just be stiff from inactivity. Hoping for the best. I just wanted to let everyone know because I had recently read that this repair was $500.00. It appears they have raised their price! The store I bought it from ( Lighthouse Sound on eBay) said they would pay for the repair but I doubt they realize that it will be $600.

Bend the neck manually & then tighten the nut on the rod to keep it in place. This should prevent the threads becoming stripped.

Well I am very happy to say that my local luthier was able to set it up and adjust the truss rod without too much trouble he said everything appears to be in good working order and no further repair is necessary. It plays and sounds like a dream and since it won't require a neck or truss rod replacement, I am very happy.
