Show of hands here - is that the rick or the jazz? To me that song's intro is the epitomy of timmy c's awesome tone.

Any ideas of how to dial that in?

I think he's just really digging into whatever bass he's playing at the time. Though I wouldn't be surprised if that tune was played on a Rickenbacker. Does Timmy still have that thing or did he smash it too?

It's a jazz. I know he credited a Ric on the album, but I don't know if he really played one on EE. I have both- Ric is just too bright, Fender (with overdrive pedal) is quite easy to reproduce that sound. I cut my low mids and boost my upper mids ever so slightly on my amp, keep the tone knob on the bass wide open, and add some distortion.

I absolutely LOVE is tone on that album. IMO, it's the best he got.

That and it's much louder in the mix than on any other album he's done with ratm or audioslave. Thanks guys.

Ya I read everywhere about him playing a Rick on that album but I don't hear it.The tone is killer all the way through that album but I don't hear the Rick anywhere. That said the tone on "Tire Me" is a bit different to the rest of the album.Anyway of telling?Ask the big man himself?Although he probably wouldn't tell!
