Hi all,

I would like to dye an ash body and follow it with tung oil... my goal is a jet black appearance (with the understanding that grain will be visible, but hopefully without changes in darkness). If I try this using the TransTint dye product, do I have a chance at success? I'd like to avoid a brown result, and also am wondering if a dyed black body with an oil finish will eventually develop brown areas in places of frequent hand and arm playing contact, and if it should, whether having tung oiled the body after dying would make future touch-up dying difficult or impossible.

Thanks in advance --

I would test out ebonizing it first. Google "how to ebonize wood"...

What about using black epoxy as your grain filler, then tung oil? I am no expert, but I think that might would yield the results you're looking for.
